Electrical Storm
1WW
Enchantment
All artifact creatures lose all abilities and are no longer creatures.

Sorta' reminiscent of Humility, I think it could be a powerful card. I couldn't think of any way to word that better, unfortunately. Maybe someone else could do a better job. Thanks.

Thoughts?

The big objection is that WotC hates effects like Humble and Humility. Somebody recently asked (in "Ask Wizards") whether they'd ever reprint Humble or something like it and they explained what a rules nightmare it was.

This seems somewhat nicer, since it doesn't reset their power and toughness - it just makes them non-creature artifacts.

The one thing I'm not certain about is the flavour of the card. It has a rules-changing ability, but you've given it a name that seems like it should belong to red. Nor would making it red be inappropriate, I think, since artifact hate is one of red's staples.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Yes but red really destroying the artifact, not just turning it off.

So we need to fix the name, not the color.

Thanks for the comments.

The original name was going to be "Shockwave", but it seemed so non-white that I couldn't go through with it. I thought this name might be appropriate due to cards like "Thunder Spirit" and such, but I can understand if it doesn't quite fit. Any suggestions?

Does that seem adequate for rules text? Should it be "...become non-creature artifacts" instead?

I'm going over some flavor text. I love flavor text so much. Man, it's just so cool. Anyway, like I said, I'm working on it.

Thank you very much.

The electric part is fine, it's the storm that isn't very "white".

Perhaps "Electric Field"? Or is that too close to damping field?

Wait, does that mean If I activate a Mishra's Factory in response to this coming into play, will it stay as an artifact land or will it revert back to being just a land at end of turn? What about Xenic Poltergeist? How does this interact with March of the Machines? What about imprinted cards? What happens if I have Mycosynth Lattice, This, and Opalescence in play? Some of these questions are definitely answerable, but I think it would just be a rules mess...

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

Actually, they're all answerable:

Factory and Poltergeist will revert at end of turn, because those are delayed triggers, and not abilities.

With Storm and March, whichever came into play last takes precedence.

Cards remain imprinted but won't do anything special.

With the Lattice/Storm/Opal combination, it depends on the order they came into play.

This doesn't create any new problems. However, it IS taxing on players to have to know this kind of junk.

Understandable.

This card may end up being a rules-catastrophe, and for that, I apologize.

If you don't want to publish it, that's cool by me.

This is a neat idea, so I don't think it should be dismissed yet. How about something like this?

Electrical Storm 1WW
Enchantment

When Electrical Storm comes into play, remove all artifact creatures from the game. For each card removed from the game in this way, put a noncreature artifact token into play with the same name and converted mana cost of the card removed.

If Electrical Storm leaves play, destroy all tokens put into play with it. They can't be regenerated. Return all cards removed from the game by Electrical Storm to play.

The token version is much worse, imo. I'd rather have a clean card with slightly complex rules issues than an ugly card with different, more confusing rules issues.
