hello there! I´d like to play the germbus-keeper on my next tournament, but due to a lack of money Very Happy ´m missing three moxen( emerald, ruby and pearl ) and the walk.... so I asking for some advices if the deck will work without the two needed moxen and the walk or if there aren´t any replacements (not for the same effect, but cards that would kind of absorb the disadvantages of not having these cards) unfortunatly I´m having no real possibilities for testing my current deck as there are not so many type 1 players in my town. so I need a little help from you guys in here.... Wink

so this is my current deck:

md:

1x ancetral recall
4x brainstorm
1x fact or fiction
2x skeletal scrying
4x mana drain
4x force of will
1x mystical tutor
1x demonic tutor
1x mind twist
1x yawgmoth´s will
2x cunning wish
2x fire/ice
2x swords to plowshares
1x balance
2x gorilla shaman
2x exalted angel
2x decree of justice
2x isochron scepter(?)
1x sol ring
1x black lotus
1x mox jet
1x mox sapphire
1x lotus petal(?)
1x library of alexandria
1x strip mine
4x wasteland
4x flooded strand
1x polluted delta
4x tundra
3x underground sea
3x volcanic island

sb:

4x duress
2x null rod
1x rack and ruin
1x disenchant
2x swords to plowshares
1x echoing decay
1x stifle
1x coffin purge
1x vampiric tutor
1x c.o.p.: red

that´s it. I set a question mark behind those cards I replaced for those missing, but as I said I´m not sure about this working at a tourney (heavy control meta) or if I should play something completely different like landstill or so??
I´d be glad to receive a few constructive replys.
thanx

Missing power is really damaging to the decks performance. For background, this question comes up whether or not this is a viable option and every time we say that it isn't because it hasn't been proven otherwise.

However, l see you have the absolute important power in the deck. I would probably look to other acceleration like Mana Crypt, run 3 Angels, and probably pack a maindeck plains.

I've got a few things to say about the changes you made, and I'm going to start off by saying that I don't think Lotus Petal ever belongs in control decks, even those on a budget. I also noticed you cut the City of Brass (or was it 2?) from Zherbus's list, despite the fact that you need the color "fixing" that much more without the pearl and ruby, and although you didn't mention it I'm assuming you don't own a LoA.

Also, although you'd be running 4 artifact mana accelerators, maybe you should just maindeck those 2 Null Rods over the Isochron Scepters. You should definitely either go the Null Rod route or add a Mana Crypt, but obviously not both. If I were to go the Crypt route, I'd almost definitely want to find room for the 3rd Angel (cutting Scepter).

Luckily you have the most important power cards, so I think you can make this deck work. Good luck with whatever you do.

edit: didn't see Zherbus's post  Sad  way to make my advice obsolete  Razz

@bulls: shame on me, i forgot to list up the library  Embarassed I´m not sure about running a city of brass and a mana crypt. don´t you think this will hit my life total too hard?? othewise.. with a third angel??? I´ll think about that.... Very Happy
@zherbus: what should i cut for the basic plains?? suppose the third angel should replace one of the decrees?? or shall i play both two decrees and three angels??

thanx for replying!

You could replace the two missing moxens with Mana Crypt and a basic Plains. And run 3 Angels, cutting one Decree for making room for the third one. Fire/Ice is a nice remplacement for Time Walk if you can't find one, Stifle is a potential substitution too (both can act as mini Time Walks with upkeep Ice or Stifling a fetchland).

Isochron Scepter makes me  Crying or Very sad

Flametongue Kavu are real bombs in the sideboard, way better than Echoing Decay or COP:Red. More versatile and beatdown machines. And card advantage.
