Due to a new job opportunity, I'll now be resting my head in (West) Hartford, CT, New England's Shining Star...or something.

Anyway, since this will put me some distance from my Team Hadley brethren, I'm going to have to find a new way to get my fix.  Although I plan on being in touch with the CT regulars, I'm curious which other magic haunts are near Hartford.  As it stands, the place in Meriden is the only one I'm familiar with.

Although its nothing like evenings filled with GnR and Van Halen that I'm used to in Hadley, I will probably start testing online again.  Is MWS still the standard?  If so, where can I get the latest version/patch?  Can anyone tell me what idiosynchrasies it has when compared with real playing (shuffler, game-play, etc).  Do people still gather on IRC?  Which forum?

Any help will be appreciated, and any CT'ers feel free to give a shout.

Sam's in Meriden is most of Team Ct's offical hang out.  Although as of late we've seem to be a bit lax in our tournament level Type 1 focus.
Thursday nights at Sam's are the best day to catch the CT regulars for some type 1 action.

There's alos Matt's Cards in Enfield (the Somers Lotus tournys) though they are also a bit below the bar compared to Hadley standards.

There's Dragon's Lair in West Hartford though the type 1 scene is bleak.  Nantuko Rice is about the only TMD regular that frequents that store.  I only show if they have turnouts for their sanctioned T1 events.

PS Welcome to the neighborhood!  Drop us a line sometime.

Really, Sam's in meriden is the place to be in the area. More or less, all of the CT people that go to/have gone to any bigger tournies play there, and from West Hartford, its really not all that far. Like Keith said, there are a few other places in the general area, but not where they play serious type one. I highly recommend against playing at Dragon's Lair(which is the main place in West Hartford). A good portion of the people who play there are assholes, and its mostly type two.

Anyway, if you need to know anything about the area(good places to eat, etc.) my AIM is HowMuchCanIChuck.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

That somehow implys that we ever have a strong tournament level T1 focus.  Right now my focus is on T1, but with my pirate-style 15 Drudge Skeletons.

(And Large Charles - Sam's is also a primarily T2 store.  Sure I'm there sometimes to make it worth going to sometimes, but that's not the point.)

Yeah, its primarily type two, but its far and away the best place that you can reasonably drive to from West Hartford and play competitive type one.
