WIN A MOX JET

A Magic tourney will be held with a Mox Jet as 1st prize

Date: Saturday, May 29th, 2004 at 3:00pm

Place: Games Unlimited, 499 Hammond St., Bangor, ME

Format: Type 1 with UNLIMITED PROXIES. Normal Banned/Restricted rules still apply but you may use any number of proxied (fake) cards. Please make sure your proxies are legible and clearly marked.

The number of rounds of Swiss will be determined by the number of entrants, and if time permits we will cut to the top 4.

For the B/R list, please check the Wizards website because it changes frequently.

Prizes: Prizes will depend on the number of entrants, but if at least 15 people show up, first prize will be an Unlimited Mox Jet! There will be many more prizes, including:

1.An Unlimited Mox Jet (EX condition) as the Grand Prize

2. A second prize of as much as a Mana Drain

3. Random door prizes during every round

4. A prize for the player with the best record and the fewest proxies in his or her deck (# points / # proxies)

In the event that fewer than 15 people show up, the grand prize will be cash based on the number of entrants.

Cost: The entry fee will be $25 or less depending on turnout.

To get to Games Unlimited, take I-95 to Exit 183 (Hammond St.) and turn right if you are coming from the South or left if you are coming from the North (away from the airport). As you go along Hammond St., Games Unlimited will be on your Left, in the same building as Radio City and Bangor House of Pizza but around the corner.

-Okay guys, this is round two. Jake and I, in an effort to improve tournament style play in the Northern NE area are holding regular Mox tourneys. Honestly we are just two type one players who were sick of never having any decent type one events in our area. So we took a page out of Ray and Steve’s book and decided to hold our own.

This is our second mox tourney; the first one was a huge success for us. Lots of people showed up, and it was a great time. Interest in type one has really spiked in the area, and we want to keep it up!

You can read about our first one here (http://www.themanadrain.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16699)
and here (http://www.themanadrain.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16224)

This tournament is basically a repeat of the last, with a Jet offered as first prize instead of a pearl.

If this one goes as well as the last, we will be holding two more this summer. The next two will most likely be much further south (no more the 20 mins from the Maine/NH boarder) with a lotus + lots more power and expensive stuff (bazaars, workshops, drains etc.) as a possible prizes.

I know the entry fee is steep, but we make up for it by giving out tons of prizes. As you can see in our last event we gave out a mox, an abyss, a mana drain, multiple draft sets, tee shirts and dual lands.

We aren't making money off this, and we are basically "selling" the mox and other cards at cost once all of our overhead is paid off. The more people that enter, the more we give away in playable cards, that simple. The point of these is to provide support for as many people as possible, and hopefully convince them to invest in Type One.

So come on down and help some fellow TMD’rs raise interest and awareness of our favorite format.

I hope to see you there

Nice, I'll be going to this.  It's an excuse to get out of the city.  I love the unlimited proxy thing too.  I play every monday at Scholar's in Bridgewater and the unlimited proxy gives an even fun playing field.  Who else is going?

Myself and three of my friends will be making the quick drive to bangor for this. Looking forward to the unlimited proxy environment as well. Any idea on a suspected turnout so far?

Im honestly not sure exactly at this point,
but I can say that we had almost 30 last time, and only one non-local player showed up. I expect the same (if not more) locals to show up, plus we have had quite a bit of interest this time from people willing to drive. (Id say at least 6 or 7).

So I guess what I'm saying is that I would be happy to see 30, but not all that surprised to see 40+.
