I got some kind of virus or something.  My homepage is not what I want it to be and I keep changing it back to Yahoo, but it keeps automatically changing back to this stupid ad page.

Any help would be nice.

PM me please.

You have Spyware/Adware on your system.

Download Adaware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/.

Get the latest Ref file, then run it.  It should take care of the issue.

did that yesterday.  Ran it.  Ran a smart system scan, according to Ad-aware 6.0.  It quarintined about 200 files, which I deleted.  The problem persists.  I still can't set my own homepage.

Any thoughts?  Am I doing something wrong?

What's a Ref file?

Add aware has a "Check for updates" Link within it.  Make sure you click it.  It will download the latest ref file (reference file, what it uses to determine what files on your machine are adware related).

Run Ad-Aware again, and check to see if any of the files return after rebooting your machine.  If you see something that consistently comes up, let me know what it is.

Also, make sure you Ad-Aware is the latest version.

I'll installed the file and I'll scan later tonight.  I have an on-line class at 6:00, so I can't be spending time doing a scan right now.

Thank you very much for your help.

Jebus and Walking Dude are right on, I always install this 2 programs in any machine I have to use for longer than a day. If your issues persist you might need to install SpyBot, which is actually a bit dangerous to use as you need better knowledge of your system, luck and keep us updated about how this comes out.
