The presence of stax has almost completely left the metagame. Many people cite mindslaver as a strictly superior lock deck(both versions.) I don't think stax should so quickly be dismissed. Mindslaver can be just an expensive Time Walk at times. It was a teir one deck before Mindslavers printing, and many of the top decks remain the same. Stax also got the new tool of Crucible of Worlds in Fifth Dawn, and it remains to be seen how powerful this card can be. It may fit as a one-of in Stax but I see potencial. Does anyone have a post Fifth Dawn decklist of Stax?

That's not true.  Slavery deck will die to deck that uses null rod.  Ever since JP posted budge deck, which includes null rod, many players begin to play the mull-until-null-rod approach.

It's just execution.  Good players find a way to make it work.

While I won't be presenting a post- 5D list of my own, I will say that I think Stax is due to start making big appearances again with all the talk of the (admittedly busted) 4 Visions 4 Whisper GAT decks.

Honestly, I think the main reason Stax died down at all (aside from the extreme commitment to Vintage it takes to build the deck in a non-proxy environment) is the lack of playskill. Sure some good players developed the deck and ran with it for a while, but when it caught on as an archetype and you could go into a tournament (i.e. Gencon) expecting to play it a few times, the best Stax players started playing someting to beat the costsmorethanacar.dec.

I'm not sure if Crucible will be an auto-include in Stax, but it's damn good without it for sure.

edit: yeah, there's a post above mine now.
