At Eudomenia in Berkely, CA, 10 people participated in the tourney (small, but growing, AND unlimited proxy.)
For a proxied environment, I added in Ancestral Recall, Time Walk and a 2nd Maindeck Misdirection, and took out an AEther Spellbomb (moved to side), and the 2 Ertai's Meddling. See previous thread for SlapJack's build.
I was going to post this as a followup report on the last tourney report, as this is only 2 days later, but the thread was locked. So...
SlapJack- LotusHead's Auriok Salvagers Combo/Control deck featuring Spellbombs and Cunning Wish for the kill.
Round 1: Dennis playing ??? Game 1+2: His deck is oldschool, no proxy, no Force of Will. It is red based and uses sub-optimal mana accellerants. Apperently, he had some Dragons in there and red kill spells. I am not sure what he was doing, but he sure remembers SlapJack. SlapJack: 2-0
Round 2: TheLegendOfMagic playing.....uh......
Game 1: TheLegendOfMagic has studied my deck, and is even reworking online versions of it and has given me many suggestions for my deck. Therefore, he knows that everything in my deck is a threat.
A resolved Trinket Mage goes in for the beats and TLOM's Forces and fetchlands leave him at 1 life (with Zuron Orb backup) when he topdecks a Yawgmoth's Will. End result, TLOM at 3 trillion life due to Crucible/Orb/Fastbond/Waste/Etc. 7 Minutes to go in round 2.
Game 2: I resolve a Salvager with Force of Will backup and topdeck a win condition and go off for the kill.
There are 2 minutes left, and we decide to not play a 3rd game.
Then we decide to play a 3rd game for fun anyways. He beat me like game 1 (without the Trinket Beatdown or lucky Yawg Win)
Round 3: Andre playing a Fish Hate deck. Basically, U/R Phid with Scepter and Superman backup.
Game 1: He lost to SlapJack last week, and knows that it can go off any time. He resolves an Isochron Scepter with Fire/Ice and proceeds to Ice stuff to draw blue counter action. Meanwhile, my Trinket Mages do the beatdown thing as I hold on to some cool blue cards. Eventually, SlapJack! EOT, I cast Intuition with 1 card left in my hand and 1 land untapped and showed him Black Lotus, Mox Pearl, Force of Will. I had no kill conditions in the Yard, and only the 1 card in my hand (Probably ManaDrain). He let me have the Mox, and I topdeck Pyrite Spellbomb on my turn. SlapJack!
Game 2: Same as game 1, although we fight a few counter wars. My Mana Drain mana give my Mox Monkey a chance to eat his Ancestralled Scepter and a topdecked Black Lotus seals the deal.
Round 4: Ryan playing Draw7 again.
Game 1:
Last time we played, my 2 Force of Wills plue 2 blue cards destroyed his God Hand. This time, he wins the die roll and for some reason, decides to go first. He mulligans to 5 cards and is still unhappy with his hand. I tell him to mull to 4 cards. He's playing Draw7! He eventually agrees and I counter anything that lookes suspicious. Upon reflection, countering an Emerald may not have been the best idea. He resolves Time Twister and pulls 3 Dark Rituals (I had already forced one of them) and hardcasts Yawgmoth's Bargain, plays more stuff, and eventually gets his spell count to 8 with me at 16 life. He wins.
Game 2:
I go broken, he goes broken and eventually resolves a Diminishing Returns. He plays more and more cards, and then...and then...I ask where the 10 removed from game cards are. "Uh..." and it's on to game 3!
Game 3:
I resolve a first turn Salvager, Force his Xantid Swarm and wait to top deck a win. I topdeck an Intuition. I win!
The field of players included 2 Fish, 1 U/G Madness, 1 Dragon, 1 CrucibleControlOrbFastbond thing, 1 U/R Phid, 1 Draw7, 1 Oldschool Red Deck thing, and 2 other decks that I did not get a look at.
The 2 Fish players came in 2nd and 3rd. I win $20 store credit which turned into Intuition #3!
During/after the match, I played against a kid from Spain with a proxied up Draw7 deck (or TPS, I am not sure) and his unproxied cards were all in Spanish. How cool! We went 1-1.
Also, I played more games against Andre's FishKiller deck and we went 2-1.
Props to TheLegendOfMagic for playing a mix of extablished decks and rogue decks. Props SlapJack for not falling on it's ass (I know, I know...no Fish Matchups...)
Slops to Ryan for giving me a hard time about trading me his Foil AEther Spellbomb. It is NOT worth a Nevynral's Disk! No one, and I mean NO ONE playes it T1 except me. I eventually gave him a dollar for it.
Props to Ryan for selling me foil AEther Spellbomb for a dollar. Now, to foil up my Chromatic Sphere!
