The Marriott is packed full recently(this is their busy time of the year) but I MIGHT be able to secure September 11th(unless you think people might not come on that date)...otherwise it may have to be a Sunday.

So what do you all think?
Thanks,
Ray

I don't think people would have a huge problem with that date. Maybe we could even donate some fraction of the profits to charity.

I'd go to waterbury regardless of any date or circumstances. Also, donating a small portion of the profit to charity would really be a nice gesture. Honestly, I, along with most of the others, would just like a Waterbury ASAP.

Waterbury is sweet.  If all you can get is 9/11 though, you might want to move to October.  Though Kerz and I have no problem with it, I'm sure there are lots of people who do.  Plus that'll be the busiest time for college kids, and you'll end up accidentally competing with me and Bryce, and that's no fun.

Did you just say you honestly doubt people will show at a tournament because of the date (9/11), and then proceed to explain that you're planning a large tournament of your own on that same date? You dropped the word competing, which would infer that.

No, we're shooting for the end of the month.  But two large tournaments in the same month usually makes people pick one or the other.

I don't know if I can make it without college kids to drive me places.

College kids will all be back in school that weekend, and happy to jump back into the tournament scene. I know I will be.

I don't think the date is a problem at all. If you are worried about it do as someone has suggested and donate some portion of the proceeds to charity.

Hold the tournament, and don't feel like because it is being held on a day in which our country was breached that you are required to donate any money. I believe the whole point of what we have learned post 9/11 is that we are to go on living our lives without fear.

Waterbury > X

(Where X is any non-Waterbury tournament.)

Sept 11th is the perfect date for the tourny because no one else is going to run a tournament on that day, PTQ or otherwise.  Since nothing else will be going on, there is no reason attendance won't be high.

I will no doubt be there on the 11th, or whenever else you decide to hold it.  The 11th should be a fine day though for the exact reasons Andy just posted.
