ohhhhhhhtay
this is my version i know it is not a competative deck anymore but it is still a blast to play at fnms and the like

1 mana
4 rogue elephant
4 ghazban ogre
4 skyshroud elite
4 basking rootwalla
2 elvish scrapper
2 scavenger folk
4 querian ranger
4 briar shield
4 wild growth
4 rancor

2 mana
4 river boa

free!
4 land grant
4 elvish spirit guide
2 bounty of the hunt

land
10 forest

side
3 naturlize
4 elvish lyrist
4 hidden gibbens
4 hidden gurellas

i have never heard someone praise the rootwalla in this deck but i think if you get creature skrewed with just him in play he is so good and could pull the win out by himself. i don't like the hidden creatures maindeck because they can be dead cards (just my meta i guess). i also hate maindeck river boa because it is so expensive so i am looking for other ideas

I am not sure what the point of this post is?  Why work on a deck that has proven to be dead for a long time, especially when there are some good budget options out there.  If you have a hankering to play with green creatures try JP's U/G Madness deck.  If you want a great all around deck try Fish.  If you want to play Stompy, proxy up some Bazaars and try Oshawa Stompy.

The problem with Stompy is that it cannot win faster than combo and cannot survive versus control.  The problem with this deck in particular is that there is too much land in it.  Run one Chrome Mox, one Mox Emerald, and one Black Lotus (bringing you down to 7 land).  After that, I am not sure what else to suggest.  This deck has just rotated out.

I've been playing a sort of stompy for a while and I think that Chrome Mox is a great card in it. It allows you to cast two creatures on turn 1, its imprint doesn't matter so much in a deck like stompy. It has also great synergy with rogue elephant (for example 1st turn forest, elephant, mox, imprint something and you have still one mana available on you're 2nd turn even if you don't have an ESG or land grant in hand).

You should be running at least Hidden Gibbons, although, you don't like hidden things. Every deck has instants in it and it's especially good against control.

Things you might need in this deck:

Lotus Petal - another Spirit Guide, although this one can't beat down.
Naf's Asp (1/1 for G, opponent must pay 1 or lose 1 life during next upkeep) - It's not exactly 2 power, 1 mana, but it's not too far off.
Wild Dogs - Ghazban Ogre numbers 5-8 if you need them.
Chatter of the Squirrel - Keeps the stream of creatures going, not as efficient as it could be though.
Full set of Bounties - it's one of the best combat tricks ever printed. Even being used as a burn spell it's strong.

As Ric says though, traditional Stompy has been dead for a long long time, and for good reasona - The inherant card disadvantage means it loses the beatdown matchups, it's too slow to beat combo, and it lacks the disruption to beat control.

Moved to casual, since you'd rather play stompy than win.

The thing that can make stompy somewhat better is to add white.  This is basically for 2 cards: StP and Wax/Wane.  This was discussed in an earlier topic, if you want to look at it:
