Isn't he some random comic book character? I think he's from an Alan Moore comic, and I think Alan Moore wanted his name/association stricken from the movie.

Interesting how they use the ^ symbol (a.k.a. the blade) which is the oldest symbol for the masculine to signify heaven, whereas the opposity symbol (rotated 180 degrees, a.k.a. the chalice) which traditionally symbolises the feminine, here signifies hell.
When will the oppression end?
[EDIT] I went to considerable lenght to describe the opposite of the ^ symbol in the above post, and only realised after Triple_S's post that keyboards tend to support the letter v....

If you get the opportunity to read The Da Vinci Code, the book goes into some historical depth about the roots of the ^ for masculine and the V for feminine...the roots trace back a LONG time.

I just thought that I should warn that "The Da Vinci Code", even though his author claims that all the references are true, is full of shit. I have sources in spanish but I could translate some stuff, even though I would probably need help with translating name of art pieces and such.

Even though it is well known how much I hate off-topicness and would never resort to it unless my hand was forced, I feel the need to ask about these sources. I've read the Da Vinci Code and rather enjoyed it, I must say. It hardly compares to Umberto Eco's 'Foucault's Pendulum' (which largely deals with similar subjects) but it was good nevertheless. I wonder what proof you have of the author's claims being false? Coincidentally, I've done some research into the Priory of Sion myself some years ago (it was actually the first thing I ever looked up on the internet back in the day and have arrived at some interesting conclusions. I'm nevertheless interested in what your sources have to say on the matter. If it's about Opus Dei: the facts he mentions in the book are true. The actions of Opus Dei regarding the Grail are obviously nonsense (but then again the author never claimed those to be true).

Yeah, but THAT is most likely true. It is a widely documented fact that the bible is a selection of (mostly apocryphal) writings. Now you can either: a. believe this is a bad thing b. believe it doens't really matter / don't care c. believe this is a good thing d. don't believe it at all.
Some fundamentalist christians fit in the D category while most fit in the C one. I'm a firm believer of the B viewpoint, whereas conspiricy theory buffs adhere to A.

Constatine is based on a DC comic called Hellblazer that was started by Alan Moore. The original stories are awesome. If the movie is half as good as the comics, it will be awesome.

I personally would love to see a movie developed on The Preacher series. Those books are slowly bringing back into reading comics again, the quality of the storytelling is amazing.
