i stumbled upon this card while surfing on www.mtgnews.com:

Blessed Breath -
Instant - Arcane
Target creature you control gains protection from the color of your choice until end of turn.
Splice onto Arcane W (As you play an Arcane spell, you may reveal this card from your hand and pay its splice cost. If you do, add this card's effects to that spell.)
1/306
Common

pretty selfexplanatory, i'm guessing there are lots of other small interactions with arcane spells (like thief of hope), rather than the whole mechanic being streamlined, because at the moment it looks quite narrow.

Sadly, not everyone has access to duals. Sui can be budgetized (no Sinkhole.).

There might be more to arcane that this, buô at the moment it seems like a so-so version of kicker.  More options in terms of effect, but it requires two cards.

I believe that Blessed Breath's casting cost is W.

Obviously, the strength of both the Arcane and Splice mechanics will depend on the quality and quanity of cards printed (especially Splice which will be pretty useless without enough Arcane spells).

Edit:  Does anyone know if you can splice more than once onto a single Arcane spell?  Could you play an Arcane spell and then reveal Blessed Breath twice, pay two white, and give a creature protection from red andblack (or give two creatures protection from one color, etc.)?

It requires you to have both in hand, but since you can still cast Blessed Breath after you "spliced" it, I would rather compare it to Equipment for arcane spells, since you can just hold the Breath and splice it onto any arcane you cast, again and again.

I think the "as you play an arcane spell, you may reveal this card from.." is only useable once per splicable card, at least that is what the wording seems to indicate.

We have rather cyclic discussion, and I fully believe that someone so inclined could create a rather accurate computer program which could do a fine job impersonating any of us.

I agree, but just want to double check.  If it could be used more than once, it could be fairly easy to abuse.
