Well, MaRo's article today reminded me about Unhinged. If you didn't read it it's here and the card preview is IMO pretty cool: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/mr149 . The article isnt the focus of the thread, however. I basically started this thread to discuss Unhinged. What did you vote and why? Personally, I think that another wacky format/set is going to be really cool, and I will probably enjoy playing with Unhinged cards. This is of course, not to mention the promised sweet basic land cards that we can all pimp our decks with; unlike standard or extended players we'll really only need to pick up 5 islands and maybe the odd swamp .

We have rather cyclic discussion, and I fully believe that someone so inclined could create a rather accurate computer program which could do a fine job impersonating any of us.

If you want to know, www.mtgnews.com has started a spoiler and is up to 4 cards now. I know its not much but something is better than nothing.

The Orb of Insight on mtg.com has provided me with the following info:
- 1 card has a reference to the word LOTUS - 1 card has a reference to the word MOX - 5 cards have the word POWER - 1 card has a reference to the word GARFIELD - 5(!) cards refer to the word RICHARD - 6(!!) cards refer to the word MARK (but as there are no ROSEWATERS, this could easily be something like 'mark with counters') - 3 cards refer to Randy (again, no lastname). This leads me to suspect the entire design team is in there somehow. EDIT: nope. Brandon & Brady aren't in there. - 3 cards refer to AGE. This should be good :-/ - 5 cards have MORPHLING in them - 8 cards have GREATER in them. So I suspect we can expect more 'greater X' cards.
Further bulletins as events warrant.

I've played with the orb too, and seems like there are 11 cards with the "gotcha X" mechanic: "if this card is in your graveyard and opponent does X, then put this card into your hand". An example said on WotC site is "gotcha: laugh". Shall we expect things like "gotcha: say 'TAP' " too?

Hopefully there will be some cool Type 4 cards. Greater Morphling is such beatz! Greater Morphling, if that's its text, is out in T4 because you can give it Provoke, trample, and then a million instances of Bushido 1 so that it becomes a firebreather. And at the very worst, you can make it a 9/1 doublestrike.

The cards are cute and some have some intresting art.
Other than that, it isn't my thing.
And as a Judge...well that's a whole new level of headaches.

The last set had some cards I liked, and a bunch of cards I was indifferent to. I expect this one to have some cards I like, and a bunch of awful cards that I'll hate. :/

I'm looking forward to it. I put together a set of Unglued and just recently sold it (needed money for Moxes). I think I might buy a box of Unhinged. Should be a lot of pretty neat and fun cards in it.
The foil basic lands could become like the most amazing cards ever printed. We'll have to see when the set comes out.

Buying packs sucks, espically when the set is unplayable. It's a neat spoiler to look over, but that's all I'll get out of it.

I'm thinking I'll just order a complete set from SCG and be done with it. That way I'll have a Type 4 playset (1) of every card in it without having to work too hard or buy any more packs. Having more lands might be nice, but I can always trade for those and I try to use as many different pictures of a given basic as possible anyway.

As for the Orb results, it counts every instance of the word in every card, so Greater Morphling accounts for all five instances of Morphling (but only 5 of 8 Greaters).
It also searches the artists' names, likely accounting for the Randies and Marks (and possibly some of the Richards, though it may just be referring to itself).
According to mtgnews, one of the three instances of age is "Gain life equal to your age." The others will likely follow suit.

I'll never die from damage!! 8-) Do they even specify age in years? I'm well over six hundred million seconds old.

I pre-ordered two displays of Unhinged. It totally thrills me, and I definitely want to collect the set (as opposed to buying it). Problem: The boxes will wait for me in Germany until I get home there from Australia - next March. But I'll take that wait, since I'll do some Unhinged drafting here if I can.
Unglued was good fun, and I expect that Unhinged will have loads more inside jokes and wacky artworks, which I totally like.
