So this is the deal.

We want to run a series of three tournaments at Riley's in downtown Toronto starting the second Sunday of January and every second Sunday after. We have put together a prize binder with power cards and great singles. If we get forty people show up the winner copuld choose a Mox and the top four are all guaranteed prizes. But you can accumulate your points through the tournaments ( and also participate in sealed on off Saturdays) to get a Lotus, etc. The entry fee will be 10 dollars.
Now thew more people that show up the more points awarded so if 70m people showed up the winner would have a shot at a Lotus as an example.
Riley's space seats over a hundred people and food and drink is available. I will not rent the space unless i get enough responses. So please respond.

Alright, Paul, let's see where this will go, I think it's a good idea, and I hope it won't flop like the Hairy-T tourneys, which had a lot of potential. Sad

Where is this "Riley's"? Is it some sort of porn store... err... store? Razz

We are running as a HairyT tourney with the prize binder and allocations posted at www.hairyt.com . We just wanted a cleaner nicer space and also we added a lot of cards to the binder to entice responses. Riley's is within blocks of Gerrard and Yonge.

The points idea is very interesting. I really like the "bounty" option! I almost want to travel up to Canuk-ada to see it in action. ( I saw that crack about "some canuk" in another post  :lol: ).

A couple of questions;

How are the players reacting? Do they mostly take their prizes right then or are they opting to let their points roll-over?

Are you allowing them to trade points for cash?

It looks like new prizes are added as others are won, or does the binder just keep expanding?

I may have missed this, how long can the players hold their points?

Again, great idea IMHO, and I hope it works well.

Steve - We rarely have top eight lists for Toronto tournaments. We have so much secret tech up here - be jealous. I do list the deck arch types that have won recently though. Lets see - have I mentioned Mask, Jank, Salvagers, TurboCrucible, Parfait before Smile

Here is the issue. When we do go down to the states we do quite well on average. Although the meta seems to be a load of crap it is really quite inventive with some top players - Razor, Lam, ShockWave, Razvan, Dicemanx to name a few. It is too easy to dismiss these metas in the global picture because the lists are absent and I'm sorry for that. But we have to respect players who do not want to disclose their tech. Canuks have taken abuse on this site a few times so we keep lists to ourselves a lot. I tend to PM them to various Vintage Adepts when we have something new. I also post new lists at the German sites as they can be tested at Dulmens. I've been working on Doomsday for awhile and will probably play a version at the upcoming Lotus tournament. My deck does rely on three Lim Duls as I generally Time Walk to a victory as the safest route. It also packs three Defense Grids main deck.

Mr. Fantasy - they are not reacting well at all and I'm frankly surprised. If you go to the link above you can see the prize structure and payout system. We add power to the binder all the time - we have a lot of power available. Andrew from Toronto took advantage of the system to win a few very good prizes and the best part is that you can participate in drafts and other events to build up your points as well.
