When a creature that was dealt damage by Soulhunter this turn is put into a graveyard from play, you may put a +1/+1 counter on Soulhunter.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

No offense, Gerry, but what's with you lately and cards with randomly tacked on abilities? Not that it's never good to give spells abilities that they normally wouldn't have, but typically it requires some pretty good reasoning. I mean, WotC even debated whether to create Magma Jet because it gave red library manipulation. So basically, what's the deal with giving this black creature a predominantly green ability (ie: being playable at instant speed?)

Now, for the praise - I do kind of like how the instant playability actually results in situations where this creature gets to make use of the vampire ability. You can drop it as a surprise and block with it. However, I'm not sure that outweighs giving an off-colour ability (an enemy colour ability, no less) to this otherwise lackluster black creature.

Maybe there is another way to make Soulhunter come out of nowhere to get you without making it an instant ability...

You could use the same trick they used on Soul Collector and give it Morph. Soul Collector's an entirely different kind of Vampire, so I don't think it would be all that terrible to give the traditional vampire ability to a morphing creature.

Just make it green-black. Color wheel fits, abilities make sense, and everyone's happy.

I may give it morph, but, before I do, let me see if I can take this card in a different, black-specific direction.

Whenever Soulhunter deals combat damage to a creature, prevent that damage.  That creature gains -X/-X until end of turn, where X is Soulhunter's power.
Whenever Soulhunter deals combat damage to a player, prevent that damage.  That player loses X life, where X is Soulhunter's power.

A bit wordy I'll admit, but I cannot recall something like this done before.  This card gets around COP, regeneration, damage prevention, Worship, and stuff like that.  Maybe not a big market for it, but whatever...

It doesn't get around Worship, as your wording does, but I think it would be much simpler to say:

Damage dealt by Soulhunter can't be prevented.
Creatures dealt damage by Soulhunter can't be regenerated this turn.

In exchange for not getting around Worship, it makes regenerating creatures susceptible to other kills later in the turn, plus it gets around "protection from" (it still can't block creatures with protection, but protection prevents damage, but this damage can't be prevented)

The second ability is a static ability, so when Soulhunter dies, the creatures can regenerate again.

I suggest "Whenever Soulhunter deals damage to a creature, that creature can't regenerate this turn".
