I'm not saying it's a worthless distinction to make--my point is that it's a distinction the average player will not understand. The card is just too confusing, even with that reminder text. Who exactly is the "average player"? Everybody who has commented on it so far has understood it. I don't think this is any more complicated than Time Stop or Reverse the Sands, and the only players who I've seen mess those up are little kids. If WotC didn't print cards that confused little kids, every expansion up till now would have been Portal. Its not the first card to mention the phrase "creature card" anyway. I agree that its complicated, but its not too bad for anyone who actually knows how to play the game

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

Cards will refer to "creature cards" when they're talking about cards in the graveyard, for example (since those are not creatures). Everything else has errata. For example:
Infernal Tribute BBB Enchantment 2, Sacrifice a nontoken permanent: Draw a card.

The problem with the "creature cards" wording is that an animated land is a creature and is a card, but isn't a creature card. (This distinction made sense when we had "summon cards", but no longer does. That's why this wording is no longer used.)
I suggest:
Essence Sweep Sorcery Destroy all creatures except token creatures, artifact creatures, and land creatures.

That's a really ugly wording. Maybe this should just destroy all nontoken creatures?

But then why is it sparing token creatures? They're just as "real" as cards. Why is the Sarcomancy zombie spared and the Scathe Zombies not?

Since so many people are dead set against the way the card currently works, I have come up with three possible alternatives that do close to the same thing, which is best?
1) Destroy all creatures that a player played from his or her hand during any turn. They can't be regenerated.
2) Destroy all creatures that aren't tokens or aren't another type of permanent. They can't be regenerated.
3) Destroy all creatures that have colored mana in their mana costs. They can't be regenerated.

#1 has memory issues and is awkward, #2 is silly beyonf belief ind prone to misinterpretation, and #3 is actually very cool.
I could go with #3. It can be flavorful, and I guess it's understandable to everyone and the wording works, too. I like this the best by far of all the stuff mentioned in here.

What about changing the mechanic of the card? What if it were called:
Exalted Rapture Target Player removes three target creatures he/she controls from the game. That player gains 5 life.

That is such a vastly different card, though. Not that this card couldn't take a different direction, but the two ideas could easily be developed in tandem. Yours is not a bad idea, David, but it probably deserves its own thread.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

No, I don't want to put up a competing card. I just wanted to bring some of the comments I've seen in this thread together.
For example, 1 ) it sounds like the name can be changed, 2 ) some users think the card does something that other cards already do.
I'm not really convinced that we need another Wrath effect.

Our set might need a wrath effect. We already have the <4CC one, but I'd like to see this completed.

#3 is a Wrath that Affinity can play though What about this wording: Destroy all creatures with converted mana cost 1 or greater. They can't be regenerated. When the meek shall inherit, they will truly become kings. If they could print Smother with no shame they could print this. It misses Kobolds and Ornithopters, but this feels like the simplest way to arrange such a card.

Since nobody liked the original idea, and my thread spawned a bunch of copycat threads, I'm going to have this closed.
