eveyone keeps talking about the Oh so powerful trinisphere and how if it were restricted workshop decks would crumble ... Has anyone heard of sphere of resistance?

this card is excellant and arguably at times better then trinispher. makes things like cunning wish for  rack and ruin cost 2 more mana something trinisphere does not do.

Now dont get me wrong i currently run 4 3'spheres and 0 spheres but if it is restricted then ill simply cut 1 card run 4 spheres and a 3sphere its not the end of the world.

I would love to play against a sphere of resistance instead of a 3sphere, in fact it would stop the turn 1 mindless locks so I agree: It would not be the end of the world.

It was the card people used as a lock component before Trinisphere was made, so yeah, most people know this card all too well.  Rolling Eyes

Trinisphere is just better than SoR.. well, 1st turn drop Trini spells gameover for a lot of decks. SoR provides slowdown, but usually can't stop spells like FoW etc.

You play turn 1 sphere of resistance.

Me: land, tap for mox, tap for mox, proceed to not care about sphere rest of the game.

The inevitable truth about SoR is that in the long run, it is only a turn delay, if that.  The only reason it was ran was because there were not many other options to slow other decks down.

That changed with 3sphere, and since then SoR has only seen play in the odd deck or two (none spring to mind, but I remember for a fact seeing it at least once).

The sad fact of the matter, is that with SoR, sure people groaned but they moved on and overcame to it (or were beaten by the opponents deck itself) where as I have seen person after person scoop to a 3sphere.  Agreed it is a pain, but not something that is unbeatable.  Get creative, find answers that work for your deck, and work around it - it is possible Wink
