Helm of Awakening + Fireball

Im just making sure im correct in this assumption that helm of awakening can reduce the X cost of a spell. Using fire ball as a bad example, with two helms in play could I fireball for 2 paying only 1 red mana?

Its a stupid question I wouldnt want to screw up so thanks for your help.

Announce spell for 2R, determine CC, -2 from the Helm, so it sits at R.
