Vengeful Assassin 1BB Creature -- Human Assassin T: Destroy target creature that dealt damage to you this turn. If you have 5 or less life, Vengeful Assassin has "T: Destroy target creature." 2/1 Awhile back, I attempted to create an ultimately flawed keyword. While the keyword doesn't really work (and it is not my intention to bring it back up again), I recently found some cards that I had made that used it. This is the first of them, and if this proves popular enough I'll put some more up later. Obviously, the keyword has been removed. As for the card itself, while it seems necessary to give its activations man costs, I think it's about on par with Royal Assassin. One issue is whether or not the punishing for damaging you is still black, as it was with No Mercy, because white just got Reciprocate. I wouldn't mind making this white, but then would the second ability be out of color? I wouldn't even mind it being 1WB, if you think its necessary. ///CURRENT WORDING/// Noble Executioner 1WW Creature -- Human Soldier T: Destroy target creature that damaged you this turn. At the end of turn, if you have 5 or less life, flip Noble Executioner. 1/2 /////// Corrupted Vigilante Creature -- Human Rogue Corrupted Vigilante is black. T: Destroy target creature. 3/1

What if this was a white card, but the second ability made it turn black?

That sounds flavourful, but a bit cluttered, dont you think? It does clutter the card a bit, but it's REALLY cool (See: Wayward Angel, Repentant Vampire). This could even be a flip card, with 'owner goes below 5 life' as the flip condition.

As for the cluttering of switching colors, it only adds three words, so I'll do that for now. I really like the idea of it being a flip card, though too: The white guy kills only when someone deserves it, but eventually he becomes so angry/used to it that he is corrupted and kills for the hell of it. Right now, I don't want to deal with the hassles of a flip card, but I definitely like it.
EDIT: Another thing about the flip that's cool it that the names can show the demoralization. As it is now, is Vengeful Assassin a very white name? I'm thinking something along the lines of "Corruptable Peacekeeper," except have the name not suck as much as that.

The name can be changed to something more along the lines of an executioner, because they kill those who are convicted and (presumably) guilty of something.
Court Executioner -> something
That's not very good...
At any rate, I don't think "assassin" really fits with the flavor. It sounds too calculated and professional, whereas I imagine this character (as you describe him) to be more of a frenzied axe-murderer.

If you wish to go with the flipping card, you could call the white half "Noble Executioner" and the black half "Jaded Vigilante." If you want to leave it as a non-flip card, call it "Jaded Executioner," perhaps.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Well, the precedence isn't really set, but this card really would work best if it were a flip guy. The only problem I have with that is that it has to be activated before it flips, but since it's killing a guy that damaged you, it's not as bad as it could be. Plus, since everyone else did all the naming and all that, it makes my job much easier. Does anyone not like the flip? For reference, the other option (which I'm editting out of the first post) was this:
Jaded Executioner 1WW Creature -- Human Soldier T: Destroy target creature that damaged you this turn. If you have 5 or less life, Jaded Executioner becomes black and has "T: Destroy target creature."
EDIT: I had to change around the P/T's a bit too. Does this require a numbers tweak? I also changed the creature type. If anyone has better suggestions for either, please share.

Will this fit on a card? I am not at all familiar with how much space flip cards have so someone investigate this.

Actually, the Ki counter flip creatures set a precent for flip conditions that are not tied to an activated ability.

Will this fit on a card? I am not at all familiar with how much space flip cards have so someone investigate this. It does seem like a lot of text, but when you take away the extra names, creature types, flip line, etc., it's not too big. Cunning Bandit has four line on top and three on the bottom. It takes up a lot of space to write it, but in execution it should be fine. i like this card and i think it is fine as is except maybe you must control a swamp to flip it? Actually, the Ki counter flip creatures set a precent for flip conditions that are not tied to an activated ability. While both of these are true/possibilities, despite what I stated above, this card is probably reaching the threshold of length, so I think I'll keep it as is. With that, I'm going to clock it.

The only change you would have to make is this:
T: Destroy target creature that damaged you this turn. Then if you have five or less life, flip Noble Executioner.
Becomes
T: Destroy target creature that damaged you this turn. At end of turn, if you have five or less life, flip Noble Executioner.

I suppose you're right. It seems either version would take up two lines of text, so might as well go with the better one. Clock Reinstated.
