This is not an ad for a website.

I got this e-mail from someone calling himself Sean Tyson:

Quote from: Random-ass Guy
M:tg
Hi, I'm emailing you in regards to my magic the gathering website I'd like you to visit and become a member of and hang out in our forums. If you ask where I got your e-mail address truth is I won't be able to tell you because I have and still am looking for potential users.  We have web forums including trading, discussion, deck help, deck database (new last weekend around 100 deck arleady) and any other general topic discussion. We have about 310 members only a few active. I plan to get this site up with a permanent host and a .com but first I need some support. If you do visit and converse with us you are truly appreciated.

www.mtgoasis.tk

Thanks, Sean

I've boldified the portion that I have a problem with, though I was also quite miffed that I was denied the pleasure of laughing at the feeble site when my computer couldn't find his server.

So, has anyone else gotten e-mails like this?

Yeah, I got that email too, but don't have any intention of doing anything about it other than ignoring it.

Yes, I got that.  Gmail may give me a gig of storage space, but there's no sense in wasting it.  Delete Forever!

Did I get the first one? When he sent it to me, it didn't actually include the url--I had to email him back to find out what site I should be avoiding.

I got it as well. I thought he was really an asshole for adding that ambiguous clause, plus his site took like 492138 hours to load and all the trade lists have type 2 stuff.

Same here, but I didn't bother to email him back to ask for the URL.

I got it, and deleted it within 5 minutes.  Anybody know what the .tk suffix is used for?

Same problem at my end. No idea about the .tk bit - maybe Tadzhikistan?
...
...

Well I don't hear any better suggestions coming from anyone Smile

Look at his forum name:

Also, that is really sad that he is randomly emailing people to try toget members.[/b]

The .tk suffix is for the small Pacific island nation of Tokelau.  You can register there and create your own .tk website.  Then you can fill the website with trash and garbage forums, just like our good friend, Sean Tyson.

www.mtgoasis.tk sullies the good name and honor of the proud Tokelauans.

Or is the .tk suffix for... TEAM KENTCAR!!??  "Bringing Type 1 down a notch" indeed!  Nefarious and dastardly!

Sorry, I'm a little punchy at work here.
