Here ya go:

http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/expandnews.php?Article=8943

Let me know what you think. It's really basic since I want to expand on the stuff in later articles and give everyone a good starting place. With Vintage being what it is, metagaming is necessary right now.

As you say, it is basic.  It's well-written though, and I look forward to your future articles.

I liked the article.  As a newcomer to the tournament scene, I found  the studies on the Gap and Glut metagaming to be very intresting and helpfull.  It was also nice to see the "Why hate decks are not the answer" part.  That was the very first lesson I learned at my first tournament.

Keep up the writing, I look forward to reading more of these articles.

God! This is why I hate Meandeckers! You so pumped up your metagame "win" with "Meandeck" Oath and didn't even mention the huge failure with Tendrils at Waterbury.

*removes tongue from cheek / head from ass*

Great article. Everyone can benefit from fundamentals like this. I have had these thoughts before, but your investigating them in written word is alot more helpful than my idle speculation could have been. I look forward to the next one.

Good job on the article.
This article, along with the other ones you will write, will help me learn how to correctly metagame.
Also, the "Why hate decks are not the answer" has actually made me open my eyes and realize why they suck.

What thorme said!

I'm not sure if the Oath example is the best choice.  Finding Oath to be solid versus Workshop Aggro was a good observation.  But it coincided with Forbiddan Orchard being printed and SCGII was the first major tourny where it was legal.  Choosing Oath was a factor, but new tech and surprise was as well.

again, nice article  Smile
