This happened in a MWS game, its a match between UW fish and meandeck oath (modified to 'Roar oath'). Games 1 t/m 3 I won (playing fish) with things like;
1) Topdecking a meddling mage after he duressed me and after we had a small counter war over (I believe) another mage...
2)  Topdecking a seal of cleansing for his oath (just dropped) and than a meddling mage for oath (topdecked the next turn) not to forget that I still had annul in my hand (err had it in hand but unable to cast it)...
3) Drawing a stifle when it was the last POSSIBLE card that could humanly possible save me...

In all off these games the situation was pretty hopeless (barring game 2 that was insane) where he had back to basics lots of mana and other shit in play/hand...Razz

Than he proceeded to kill me with a pristine angel next game...

And than the most insane game happened off all:
At some point (after lots and lots off turns) he had a oath a back to basics a pristine angel in play (and lots off mana) me having NOTHING in play besides some spirit tokens...
He desides to oath and this is what happens:

The most surefire way to win a game is for your opponent to lose it to their own deck.

Next to ripping Will off the top. ;)

It was pretty amazing, expecially if you consider what a long shot it is (anybody good in math he had about 40 cards left in his library). And considering the game state (I was dead in 2 turns) and the games before it, it totally stunned both off us...Razz

Hey, this is me, Roar . I was Freelancer's opponent.

I just confirm what happened. It is incredible. I've never been so unlucky before, and I've been playing magic for nearly 6 years now. So my hypothesis of Magic being a game of hazard is confirmed.  Sad

I'm sure your real said about those games, but triple posting is against the rules...Wink (mods HELP ME Razz)

Anyway this strenghtens the theory that scooping is not a option unless for some real good reasons (no time left for instance)...

Why didn't the Oath stop at Akroma? Wouldn't that have been good game right there?

OK, I understand that, but in your list of things that happened, Akroma was in the middle.

Roar  puts Swamp into play from Library
Roar  puts Back to Basics into play from Library
Roar  puts Akroma, Angel of Wrath into play from Library
Roar  puts Polluted Delta to Graveyard from Play
Roar  puts Polluted Delta to Graveyard from Play
Roar  puts Polluted Delta to Graveyard from Play
Roar  puts Flooded Strand to Graveyard from Play

What I was asking was why the Oath continued after the Akroma. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. Sad

That is a valid question indeed, I must have messed up somewhere with the copy paste actions...o_0

I'll change it to the last card revealed, because i am positive it was his last card in the library...o_0

Not a big deal at all. I was just curious, since I play Oath occasionally.

I like to give my opponent every possible opportunity to fuck themselves over, as such, I generally don't scoop.  The exception to this rule is when time constraints come into play.

I know someone who forgot to play a BrainFreeze in his Sensi deck.  He combo-ed off and his opponent wanted to play it out.  Don't scoop, you never know.....

The formatting is fine, look:
Quote
. . .
Roar  puts Swamp into play from Library
Roar  puts Back to Basics into play from Library
Up to here he is revealing the cards by taking them off the top of his library and putting them on the board

Roar  puts Akroma, Angel of Wrath into play from Library
He reveals the Akroma and leaves her in play

Roar  puts Polluted Delta to Graveyard from Play
Roar  puts Polluted Delta to Graveyard from Play
Roar  puts Polluted Delta to Graveyard from Play
Roar  puts Flooded Strand to Graveyard from Play
. . .
He puts all other revealed cards from the board (where he placed them as he revealed them) into the graveyard, as required

As a side note, a friend of mine made top 8 at his first tournament ever by Ancestral Recalling one of his Oath opponents to death two games in a row.
[Edit: It should be noted that his opponent was only running one creature and wasn't running blessing, though.]

Indeed you should never scoop, even if you are the Oath player in the aforementioned situation. Let me give you the tale of "almost scooping to Acroma being your last card".

I was playing at a local T1 tournament against a black rogue deck. The games were 1-1 and game three was tight. I had no counters in hand and low life, which spelled imminent death to almost any of my opponents topdecks.  No worries though because Acroma is just waiting to be oathed up and bring the game home for me in one fell swoop. So I oath and I oath and I oath and I start to silently swear under my breath and yea Acroma emerges not least but definetily last. My opponent starts laughing like mad and I start sweating. I try to hardcast the Blessing but am remeinded that it is a sorcery. My opponent laughs even more manically and the audience we had gathered is likewise amused (though as I am soon to find out not for the reason I assume). So I take a deep breath count my cards in hand consider scooping and finally take a look at the dainty little Platinum angel I had Oathed up two turns earlier... I slap my head, the crowd starts giggling, I say Mainphase? Combat? and smash my still laughing opponents face with holy wrath.

Yeah, I should pay more attention to my board position...

*grins* that was a interesting story...Smile

If anybody has some more off these kinda story's I love to hear them...Smile
There defintley interesting, and show what you shouldn't do...

As a matter of fact my opponent actually made a mistake, since he already had a angel in play that was going to kill me in 2 turns and I had nothing in my deck that could save me from it...Normally however a 1/40 (as people kindly explained to me in jirc Razz) chance to loose the game but prevent the opponent another turn is just fine, in this case it wasn't fine though...Smile

I recall a game where a friend of mine was being owned by sui-black while he was playing slaver. The only thing he had in play was a goblin welder and a mox, but no targets in the graveyard. The opponent had lethal damage on the board, but before his combat-phase he decided to make his victory even more awesome by casting hymn to tourach. My friend was holding 3 cards, one of which was Platinum angel. It got popped in the yard, and owned the sui player Smile

Losing to your own stupidity, that's truly idiocricy (is this a word?o_0) Still I'm sure this happens all the time, playing tight means much less (undeserved) losses...Smile
