I'm having a lot of fun checking out the forum stats: http://www.themanadrain.com/forums/index.php?action=stats

The top 10 topics by replies and views are particularly cool.

Also, we can now see who spends the most time on the site. That should be interesting.

The individual stats pages are also really interesting. You can see what times you usually post, and where all your posts are. I seem to have a large spike in posts when I first sign on each day, presumably from moderating, followed by some pretty consistent posting (on average) until I go to sleep. I'm also pleased to see that less than half of my posts are in the card creation forum.

Do we have statistics for individual forums? It'd be neat to see stuff like "who starts the most threads in open vintage?"

It's 23:1 Matt. That's not the same thing :-)

Yes, this is a very cool feature. And I'm glad to see that Brit's WTF trhead is still firmly in the lead, reply-wise :-/

This is a good tool for checking out what decks are popular in people's minds. Also notice how Machinus is online >75% of the time? it's like: log in, log out, speel for 6 hours, log in, log out, sleep for 6 hours....so good!

By the way, Matt: your avatar used to look cute. Now that it's been resized or something, it looks downright scary...

It was 1:0 for a while, actually. There was no gender category on the old board, so people had to set it manually after we made the switch.

I actually miss the look of the old boards, but the stats of the new boards are pretty cool. I leave my computer on all day and I check the boards whenever I get a chance to relax at my desk, which happens a few times a day since my class/work schedule is scattered. I'm also kind of an insomniac, so I read the boards all the time.

You can't just stay logged in to be recorded as online. You have to be active.

One thing that I have wanted to see since the last reset in january of 2004 was statistics on how many users registered each day since they went up. There were a few surges of new users and I always wanted to see what events the correlated to, like B/R or Gencon or something. You could manually record this data from the old boards, but I don't know if its still available.

Statistics Note:

When I first installed the forums I fucked up and deleted all the Moderators (don't ask, I was dead tired). When I redadded them I had to use a special SQL query to reassign their posts to them. An unfortunate sideeffect of this was that any Moderators who used the same username from the ORIGINAL (vBulletin) forums had all their posts in "Archived" reassigned to them. As a result, they have slightly schewed statistics.

Some day when I'm board I'll fix that, but that won't be for awhile.

I was wondering why only a few of those posts were showing up. It'd be cooler if you could reassign everyone's old posts to their accounts, though (but if that's too much work then don't bother).

3586, 17:1 => 199 Female TMDers

How did this ratio change so much all of a sudden?

It only counts those of us that have enetered their sex in their profile. My guess is that lots and lots of guys haven't even bothered, and that the girls we do have on these boards care more about profiling themselves as women (to make a point, as it were).

In other words: the ratio is not based on a representative sample (it's not random, and in all likeliness it's not significant, either). This means that the 23:1 ratio is the ratio of men vs. women who bothered to specify their gender, and NOT the ratio of males vs. females on these boards. That's my guess, anyway.

To make it realistic should we put "Male" as default?  Wink Women probably would change that... who? Women? Who? Women. Who?....Women? Never seen here..
