Patterned after Tethered Griffin.

Peasant Militia
2W
Creature -- Soldier
3/4
Vigilance (Attacking doesn't cause this creature to tap.)
When you control more than three lands, sacrifice Peasant Militia.

I find this card interesting. My first instinct was to dislike it, but I'm not sure if I am justified. It is, in my opinion, a bad card, but that's not sufficient grounds to dislike it. It is similar to, but worse than (IMO) Rock Jockey, a card that I actually like. My initial objection is almost certainly because it is counterproductive to the traditional strategies of the decks in which I think would see play -- namely, to play as many creatures on turns 1-3 as possible, then cast Armageddon on turn 4. In that case, if this is one's turn 3 play, then that turn was wasted. Of course, I have to acknowledge that said strategy isn't really viable anywhere, so perhaps a new approach to white aggro is necessary. Get other opinions, then. If nothing else, I'm not interested in seeing what other people have to say about this card.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Ephraim, your comment about "a new approach to white aggro" got me thinking about this complimentary card:

Possible Card Names: Justicar, Knight of the Chalice, Marshal, Tax Collector
WW
Possible Creature Types - Cleric, Knight, Rebel
2/2
Players can’t play lands if they control three or more lands.

It's a rule-making card, which is White. And I think it's kind of a reverse Trinisphere. Whereas Trinisphere made you pay three mana or more for your spells, this will only let you play spells that cost three mana or less (unless you can cast them without actually having the mana in play). White can take advantage of having fewer lands in play (Land Tax, Tithe, Weathered Wayfarer, etc.) and it can then use its full hand with Empyrial Armor or Empyrial Plate or with Scroll Rack.

I can start a new thread for the above card. What does everyone else think about Peasant Militia?

There's nothing wrong with it, IMO. Formats where Armageddon is legal also have good ways of making 4 mana for Armageddon without having 4 lands in play, so it's not too bad in that respect.

I think that the one where any player can only play 3 lands would be utterly ridiculous in t2, Mono-U enters Scoopsville, as does any deck without removal or a lot of mana accel.

Does Type 2 not have bounce, counterspells, or creature kill? I wouldn't know...

Actually, mono-U would be fine, since they still have Vedalken Shackles, bounce, and counters. It's obviously a strong card, and I'd rather see it at 3 mana, but it's not going to just win the game against much.

As for this card, I like it.

If you need to weaken it, make the drawback "when you play a land, sacrifice ~this~". That way Stome Rain can act as a pseudo-countermeasure.
