I'm considering making a come back to Type I (and Magic in general). And as most of you old people may know, I sold all my Type I decks and cards about a year ago for $5,000.

And I'm poor now...so I gotta start budget.

And ideas for a good budget (non-Powered and no LoA, I -MAY- be able to afford Mana Drains) deck that is semi-competitive in the current metagame?

I'm working on a budget Oath.  I would suggest that, as Drains appear to be somewhat optional as well.  So far, it's cost me about $350 or so, which isn't too bad.  Drains would effectively double the price, though.

Many places are offering five and ten proxy at their events.  If you can find a venue that offers this, TPS is budget friendly as you can proxy the power nine.  Otherwise, as you probably already know it is very hard to play unpowered against powered decks.

Hey, just wanted to say welcome back!

On the budget thing, I can only second all comments that have been made. Find a proxy event & play combo, or play Oath. Food Chain Goblins is still played, too, but it's massively boring.

Here's hoping you return to IRC, if nothing but to harass Smmenen.

I'll look into Oath. Oath used to be one of my decks I carried around. Bah...I miss those now.

I'll be firing up MWS soon too.
