Having trouble deciding what to play in Rochester? You probably should be... the results of Richmond probably add to the confusion. Hopefully, I'll be able to shed some light on the situation, giving you some guidelines for your deck choice at what will surely be the hottest American Vintage tournament of the year. http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/article/9800.htmlThoughts, comments, spare change?

Good article. I so wish I could make it to Rochester, but life has other plans. Were I to go, I think the Stax build you and Kevin ran at SCG would be an excellent call.

I decided against Gifts because I didn't want to have to deal with Fish. Is that the only reason? Since I found the matchup is quite easy, especially if you take additional 1R Wraths with you.

And that there are like a million Gifts list configurations and I still haven't figured out which one is optimal.

Great article, Steve. I really enjoyed it. Two questions: 1) Do you think your revised Meandeck Oath 2K5 is something that can be tweaked for the expected Rochester metagame? You mentioned that the decks to beat, in your opinion, are Fish, Gifts Belcher and Food Chain Goblins, and this faster version of Oath seems to have decent/good matchups against these three archtypes. Given the general decline in Control-Slaver, do you think that it would be a viable choice for Rochester? 2) Since you suggested that budget B/G Oath list last week, I was wondering if you thought a budget deck like R/G Beats has any potential. Specifically something like Dxfiler's 2nd place deck from the last Beanie Exchange tournament (his report is here: http://www.themanadrain.com/forums/index.php?topic=23261.0). It packs a lot of hate, and totally owns Fish. Any thoughts? Best of luck with the bar exam. If being a paralegal had proved more enjoyable I'd probably have to one day cram for that exam, too, . Absolu-fucking-lutely. If I had played my Oath deck, I am certain I would have been in the top 8 given what I played against. I'm that confident with it. 2) Since you suggested that budget B/G Oath list last week, I was wondering if you thought a budget deck like R/G Beats has any potential. Luiggi R/G beatz have potential? Sure it has potential. But god knows how to build it. It's waaaay too late to start thinking about that.

Hey Steve, any words of advice regarding SB'ing for Meandeck Oath 2K5? The problem is always what to pull... If possible, can you tell me how you'd board in the Gifts, Fish, Stax and mirror matches? Thanks in advance!

My advice is to shuffle your SB into your deck every game and then cut cards you dont' want to see in that match.
It will probably end up being some Wishes and possibly a Leak or two.
