I`m trying to put together a black/white deck using the abyss as my main card.
In the past i have run this deck using artifact and prop. black creatures in it but i was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to construct a killer abyss deck.
I really want to use black/white as the colors but i`m open to any suggestions.

Thanx for any help.

Sorry forgot to mention i have access to nearly every card but black lotus and moxes.

If it were black green, I'd run humble budoka, troll ascetic, pernicious deed, and spiritmonger. That way, your completely immune to the abyss, and you murder the opponents creatures.

Also, you could also run animate land o be wacky, because you oculd force them to lose a land by animating it before there turn.

Spiritmonger dies to the Abyss. And Animate Land won't work because the Abyss' ability triggers and goes on the stack (and thus needs a target) before anyone gets priority.

Your Troll Ascetic also dies to your The Abyss.

People often try to play around The Abyss by dumping multiple creatures at once.  Things that tie up creatures, like Maze of Ith, can exacerbate the effectiveness of The Abyss.

What are you talking about? I thought that the Abyss's oracle text was that bizarre:

Destroy target non-artifact creature of its controller's choice.

That means that spiritmonger can regenerate, and troll ascetic can't be targeted. Aren't I right?

Always, always, ALWAYS check the Oracle wording when talking about old cards: http://gatherer.wizards.com/

Quote
At the beginning of each player’s upkeep, destroy target nonartifact creature that player controls of his or her choice. It can’t be regenerated.

No regeneration, and since you control The Abyss, Troll Ascetic can be targeted by it:

Quote
Troll Ascetic can’t be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.

If you're going White/Black, I think you should play a lot of creatures with protection from black, and then maybe use Pestilence as well.

Juggarnut would be nice, a 5/3 that is an artifact. Would Blastiderm work because it cant be target of spells or abilitys.

Abyss targets, so yes, untargettable creatures are immune to its effects.

Use Mother of Runes. That way The Abyss wil never destroy one of your creatures. Or perhaos Flickering Ward (personal favorite).

I like the B/G idea, because it gives you early beats with Nimble Mongoose, Blurred Mongoose and Humble Budoka AND Jolrael's Centaur!
