This is Boomerang what Abjure is to Counterspell. Abnegate Instant As an additional cost to play Abnegate, sacrifice a blue permanent. Return target permanent to its owner's hand. Also, it combos with Hatching Plans!

Wow, this card is awful. Abjure at least shaves 1U off the "correct" cost, but this only saves you U, on an effect that isn't even card parity most of the time.

To be fair, Abjure was printed back when Counterspell was a standard benchmark. Nonetheless, this probably could be printed at UU1 or U2 with sac a blue permanent as an alternative casting cost.

I think you should be able to sac any permanent personally. That way you can sac lands, making this much better, without being broken.

Yeah, I could see: Abnegate Instant As an additional cost to play Abnegate, sacrifice a permanent. Return target permanent to its owner's hand. Although, Abnegate Instant You may sacrifice a blue permanent rather than pay Abnegate's mana cost. Return target permanent to its owner's hand. is interesting...

I don't like this at with an alternate casting cost. It infringes upon Regress, which wasn't printed all that long ago. With an alternate casting cost, I'd say {U} and/or being a sorcery would be more fair.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

The original (with the blue restriction) was a beautiful skill-tester.

Returning a permanent to its owner's hand is not as good as countering a spell. I think I will remove the blue permanent restriction. That way, you can sacrifice an artifact or a land...

Well, it's basically on par with Raze, so I guess I can't really object now. The blue permanent restriction was actually a lot more significant than I think people realize.
