What this means is that typically, people who net deck do better than people who innovate. This makes sense, since net decks are generally good and new strategies are generally not. However, if you want to get an edge over the netdeckers, innovation is the way; you just need to be able to generate enough ideas that you can select the best.

Information Cascade

I found Chapin's article pretty interesting, especially when looked at in the light of *rawr* "INNOVATION!" *rarw* arguments that pop up on TMD/about type 1 in general.

Good players (with TMD level Magic/Meta/NetDeckKnowledge) are better than players with less TMD level Magic/Meta/NetDeckKnowldege.

Sometimes "lesser" players win with broken netdecks (and more power to them.  Trinisphere was printed, right? and Null Rod? with 10 Proxy help)

Good players will rarely walk into a tourney with a deck they don't think have a chance.
But they have their gameplan or knowledge of other players decks/styles.

Sometimes good players show up with their "innovations" and other scrubbier players show up with thier "innovations".

My case is that in my first forray into competetive T1, I pegged Auriok Salvagers as Broken and forced others to deal with it as I learned metagame/TheStack.

Gifts and Bob are the only cards I can think of post 5th Dawn that can truly invigte innovation (Ghost Quarters? Maybe.  Pithing Needle: SB at best. Quicken? UNEXPLORED AREA.)'
