If you play Sphere of Resistance and then Trinisphere, how much does Ancestral Recall cost?

This is independent of time stamping. Trinisphere's effect is always applied last, as it sets the cost to a minimum of 3.
By the way, as most rules concerning one single card, the question is already answered by checking gatherer...

First case: 3

Second case: 3

Trinipshere is ALWAYS the last thing to be applied.  There's no timestamping involved whatsoever.  It goes cost increasers, cost reducers, Trinisphere.  If you go to play Ancestral Recall, first you apply the SoR, so it costs 1U.  Then Trinisphere sees that you're trying to pay 2 for something, so it bumps the cost up to 2U.  In short, everything that has CMC 2 or less only costs 3 when Trinisphere and SoR are in play together, and everything that has CMC 3 or more gets increased by 1.

EDIT: Ok, so I didn't get my response in in time. Wink

Also, Trinisphere doesn't CHANGE the converted casting cost to 2U.

For instance, let's say you laid-down a Trinisphere, then you lay down a Chalice of the Void for 3 (that is, you pay six mana to put it into play)

Because your opening hand was:

Forest
Fastbond
Mishra's Workshop
Mishra's Workshop
Mishra's Workshop
Chalice of the Void
Trinisphere

You're down to 17, and you say go.

Your opponent plays island, mana crypt, ancestral recall.

You go, "HOLD ON THERE BUDDY."

And he goes, "Check Gatherer."

True that, lol.  Sorry.  Okay,

He goes:

Workshop, Lotus, Ancestral.
