I've been wondering which card would be best to play in Control Slaver. Mox Monkey: pros -can eat Moxen, Chalices and other cheap mana artifacts. -Cheap and efficient, can chump if necessary.
cons: -can only destroy cheap artifacts. -can't destroy artifact creatures. -Chalice for one is easier that Chalice for three
Rack and Ruin: pros: - can destroy two big artifacts the same time. Against stax, destroying their Crucible and Smokestack on turn two gives you a significant advantage.
cons: -needs two targets
Personally, I'm more a fan of Rack and Ruin. Being able to kill two big artifacts for just two mana is more impressive to me. But I haven't tested the Shaman too many times yet, and I'd like to hear your opinions on it. Do you prefer other kinds of artifact destruction, like for example Viashino Heretic? Are there other pros cons to consider for each card? Or do you think that maindeck artifact destruction isn't even necessary?

In CS, I do not like Viashino heretic because the decks you want to bring it in against will have wastelands, so you may never have the mana to activate the heretic. Also, you need 4RRR and 3 turns to do what Rack and Ruin does.
Therefore, your choices are Gorilla shaman and Rack and ruin. I have been running 2 Shaman main and 2 RnR side, which is pretty good. I would also consider running 1 shaman and 1 RnR main.
The best thing about monkey is that he is great against Gifts and CS, whereas RnR is not as good in those matchups. Also, you should have Echoing truth to deal with Chalice for one or big artifacts you cant eat with the monkey.
Edit: Oh, and monkey plus welder can clear out those big artifacts for just a mana (if they have played a mox)

I run both maindeck with extra RnR in the side. 2 moxmonkeys and 1 RnR in the main, 2 more of the latter in the sideboard. Also, 1 Echoing Truth is maindecked with another 2 in the side.

1-2 MoxMonkey main. 2 Rack and Ruin Sideboard unless your going into Chicago where Workshops Rule the world and you should change up the list to be ready for Stax matchups.

Shaman is an all-around goodie. I think you should maindeck R&R only if you're a Stax/CS heavy meta. In my opinion, 1 shaman is fine, 2 if you see some combos, and 2 R&R in the case above.

Most definetly. Mox Monkey destroyed me at Waterbury. Save the Rack and Ruin's for the sideboard because most times, it can be a dead card as well as a waste of space in main deck slots. Monkey>Rack and Ruin in the main deck set up.

Ive played CS for a while, and i definitely think that mox monkeyand welder have good synergy...if you're thinking about going to Chicago, RnR may be your best bet though..

Id advise some combination of the two, probably 2 GS MD and 1 RnR MD with 2 RnR SB and AIRC GS and GW can PWN artifacts cheaply if you toast a mox then weld the higher CC artifact for the mox and GS the mox again. Ya IMO thats the way to go, so peace 1 <3 yo

Damn Mox Munkey is all I have to say. If someone is playing Tendrils or N\Mono-Brown, Monkey would have a permanant life on board and one of your most vital cards. Eats all little things while RnR may get some big things here and there.

If you have to choose between one or the other, Mox Monkey.
And it's not even close. Even in Chicago. (I live in Chicago).
