Man Your Battlestations!
{W}
Sorcery
Put two 0/2 Townsfolk tokens into play.

--------------------------------------------------------

I think this is acceptable. Compare to Steel Wall: it costs "more" and about as strong. For example, Steel Wall will hold off an Ironclaw Orcs indefinitely; this won't. However, these creatures can wield a Bonesplitter on offense, which Wall can't. These can also hold off two 1/1s. But then, white should be better at this sort of thing than artifacts.

This would be useful, but not powerful, in a deck designed to make use of the tokens, such as my For The Horde! deck (see casual forums), or anything with Sengir Autocrat.

Could this be a Hybrid card, costed {G/W}? Churning out tokens is definitely in both colors.

Lastly, the name is a placeholder.

If white can get two 1/1 soldier tokens at instant speed for {1}{W}, this should be totally fine. I really like this card as-is. I don't think it should be hybrid with green. Generating defensive tokens doesn't really seem to be green's style. I don't really have any substantive suggestions. It's hard to improve on a card that performs its function as simply and elegantly as this does.

Possible names/flavour text

Civilian Conscription
Oneah's army consists entirely of volunteers although citizens were often pressed into service as couriers and guards.

Guard Duty
Every young man must take part in the defense of his village or town when the need arises.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

I'm a little wary of this card, mostly because of convoke.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

What are you going to convoke, though? More creatures? Devouring Light -- oh no! None of the convoke cards are in any way scary.

It isn't just convoke though. Anything that relies on permanents being in play or that taps down creatures to play an ability gets a huge boost from this. I don't think there has ever been a card that gives you two permanents for one mana.

Sarcomancy - staple of Convoke decks?

And ummm

It does 'combo' with Tradewind Rider and I guess also with Hand of Justice but given that White getting 2 1/1s at Instant speed has not proved to be a problem, is 2 0/2s at Sorcery speed for one mana less really a problem?

You can't tap the Sarcomancy enchantment for Convoke!

I was assuming you had a Opalescense in play (what a deck!)

With the current state of Convoke, don't you think a Convoke deck running 0/2 blockers is more likely to be a casual thing? Most Convoke spells are 2 or more mana than their equivalents anyway, so Convoke plus Man your Battlestations doesn't usually gain you much in terms of casting cost.

This card seems fun. My only concern is that the current nomenclature makes me think of soldiers rather than townsfolk -- guards are, of course, soldiers.  Can we find a name that suggests townsfolk instead, rather than a name suggesting soliders which then has to be "patched up'" with flavor text?

This isn't any better for Convoke than something like Raise the Alarm or Birds.  Raise the Alarm costs 1 more and makes useful creatures, where Birds makes useful mana.  It's certainly not any scarier than Tinder Wall, Selesneya Evangel or Sakura Tribe-Elder.  I like it.
