Tribal Domain Land As Tribal Domain comes into play, choose a creature type. : Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to play creature spells with the chosen creature type. *** I was browsing through the pack cards that we've created and I noticed that there's a section in the thread for "LAND CARDS[/B]." At first, I thought it was kind of silly to think of lands as being associated with creature types, but then I thought of the lands from Odyssey that were tied to the various creature types. I wanted to create something more versatile, though – something that no tribal deck should be without. Even there, it's a safe card, though. Since many tribes are monochrome, it would often be better just to use a basic land, since this won't help to cast AEther Charge or Airborne Aid or any of the other various support cards. On the other hand, for those players who are scraping through all of the colours to create a licid deck or a spellshaper deck (okay, I admit it – or a sliver deck,) this card would be a real boon. The templating here may be a little bit fuzzy. Do spells have creature types? Spells of a specific creature type are <Creature Type> spells (see the warchiefs or any spiritcraft card.) Is this templating adequate or is there a specific template that should be used? *** Current Wording:
Totemic Patria Land
As Totemic Patria comes into play, choose a creature type.
: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to play creature spells with the chosen creature type.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Im not sure about ur question but this seems fairly weak as of right now. At minimum, i would add that it can be used to play activated abilities of the creature type

As a hardened casual player, I think this is balanced as is but would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too good if you allowed activated abilities. Wizards are a cool tribe, as are Slivers and you are helping them enough by letting them cast the creatures without helping the actiavted abilities too.
Oh, yes, I also have a Legends tribal deck (OK so they are now Legendary creatures rather than creature type Legend so shoot me)

Very little commentary on this card. I still think it would be more playable/powerful as I suggested. The only decks this would see play in are Sliver decks.
Edit: Also, is Tribal Domain the actual card name?

Yeah, that name needs to be something not terrible.
I like how good this card would be in random casual decks, though, especially for "tribes" like cleric or human, where there are at least two main colors.

Names: Spiritual Homeland? Cultural Sanctuary?
Also, why can't this make Colourless mana? Is giving Slivers/whatever a painless City of Brass which they can't use to cast Aether Vial THAT scary? With Fetches and Duals Slivers can get a pretty consistant manabase anyway.

Clearly even the version with mana for activated abilities is nowhere near our usual definition of broken or even too good. However, just as we take the colour pie into account when making cards and therebye often water down or decline relatively weak cards simply because they would cross the agreed demarkation lines of what each colour can do, so we should do the same for lands.
The weakest version, mana for just creatures is still an auto-include in any 2 or more colour tribal deck, seeing as most tribal decks are pretty close to all creature anyway. Comparing it to Thran Quarry, a tribal 'good card', we can see that it is similar in power and the version that powers activated abilities is clearly better. Lands that can generate mana of any colour must have a drawback, this card is limited in what decks it could go in but is fairly drawback free in such decks.
I can't see any justification for adding the ability to generate colourless mana. That is off-flavour and adds a lot of power. Pointing out that it could then be used to cast Vial is an excellent argument - against doing just that IMHO.
The majority here seem to think this is a little weak. I can understand if activated abilities were added, the card would still be no 'Jittle' just the best land for multicolour tribal decks, a fairly small niche at best. My opinion is still that the original version is best but if the card needs strengthening, allowing activated abilities is the way to do it.

Just to clarify, there have been two colorless mana suggestions: Tribal Domain Land As Tribal Domain comes into play, choose a creature type. : Add to your mana pool. : Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to play creature spells with the chosen creature type. And my suggestion: Tribal Domain Land As Tribal Domain comes into play, choose a creature type. : Add to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to play creature spells with the chosen creature type.

I think my final decision is that mechanically, I'm going to leave the card just the way it is. That still leaves the matter of the name.
Nazdakka, I'll fall back on yours if the suggestions I have don't go over well. How do people feel about:
Ancestral Motherland Totemic Motherland Totemic Patria
(Per Wiktionary, Patria is just another word for "Fatherland." I just thought that it sounded more Magical.)

"Patria" is Latin for "fatherland" - that's more 'magical' for me as I'm a Classics student, don't know how it affects you. Also, I would prefer it if it could add 1 regardless of creature type, as I think it's too weak at the moment, but if you leave it as-is that's fine by me.
