Yeah, my car was broken into and my tournament cards were stolen.  Has anyone else had this kind of thing happen?  How did you handle it with the insurance company?  The value of the cards is freaking ridiculous.  Probably atleast $4000.  Thanks in advance.

I've heard about people claiming insurance on power before.  The story I heard goes along the lines of his beat unlimited power turned into mint beta power some where through the claim..  Paid for his wedding with spare change after it went through. Wink

As for what exactly to do I'm almost positive that either your car or homeowners insurance covers it though the exact details I'm not sure.

My friend Hill had his car broken into, with multiple sets of beta power and other cards stolen. If you want his info, PM me.

Keep in mind that doing this may make your premiums go up.

Do a search, there as a good discussion and someone who works at an insurance company explained it really well.

I've had some of my stuff stolen before. I had a deck of mine and a few of a friends cards yanked from me at this past Waterbury. I was very bitter about it for a while, but I've gotten over it, now.

Searching for insurance gave me these threads. Hopefully they're useful for you, and anyone else who hasn't thought about insuring their cards. Good luck!

Good luck for ya, sometimes dealing with insurances is hard, especially about stolen cards. Do you have any proof ( like old picture of your cards ) that you could show?

I'm really sorry to hear all of the horror stories. You all have my condolences. I know this might sound lame, but I've actually stopped playing in tournaments for fear of having my cards stolen.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

I had my power blue stolen and an all black boarded WW deck stolen as well.  I actually just got back my Time Walk from this random kid that walked into my local store.  It was given to him for free and my friend that worked there reconized it.  I gave the kid 2 booster boxes for giving back the card since he was not the one who stole it.

I got 200 sleeves a playset of Hyppies, Night's Whispers, Price of Progress, and a Chain Lightning stolen at Philly.  I was pissed b/c a lot of the cards were my friends.  Best of luck.

If you have receipts on how much you paid the insurance will work something out with you but if you paid in cash for everything theirs very littleyou can do to prove you had them.  If you wanted to you could get a tournament decklist you wrote that asked if you had proxy's and use that to backup that you did indeed buy the power and other items.  They will not give you full value but they should give you something and something is better than nothing.
Shit getting stolen sucks you just have to find a way to prove you owned these cards at sometime maybe you can use the Waterbury deck reg sheet and show your company you owned them and get the value off SCG or something.  An Idea to throw at you.
Good luck, sorry to hear this happened to you.

im sorry man ive been through this multiple times.

Ive had a full set of power stolen from me and GM's and the waterbury incident (which people were remarkable in helping me with.)

you can submit it to your insurance and get refunded for it but your premiums go up in the long. just analyze the possible rate changes with the money you'll get back and see which comes out better for you.
