Once again it is time for a sanctioned Type One tournament here in Thornton Colorado.
The location is 92nd and Washington for more detail www.milehighcomics.com.
This will be held on December 17th, I stopped by the store on lunch and neglected to get the start time (usually 10am-11am with registration an hour prior). Unless anything changed this will be a *free* event with $250.00 for first, $100.00 for second, $50.00 for third and $50.00 store credit for forth. Also $12.50 store credit each for 5th-8th.
Also of note this is a SANCTIONED tournament so no proxies allowed. This just in this will be a 10 Proxy tournament! So bust out your budget decks or dust off your power, it’s time to play some vintage!
Feel free to drop a line if you can make it.

Zach

Sigh....I'm leaving for CA the morning of the 17th. Oh well, another blown opportunity for me to get my ratings up. Seriously, to the guys at MHC: Could you please not fucking plan events close to holidays? You lose a shit ton of dedicated type 1 players (Limoges might be out of town too, I don't know for sure). And you wonder why your numbers are low. How about holding tourneys on a regular schedule when people don't have shit going on? Either way, good luck to Zach, Jim, Scott, Lou, Travis, and whoever else might be going to this thing.

What's the point of sanctioning it?  That just doesn't seem good anymore, unless you're trying to let people pump up their ratings for Legacy stuff.

The main dude who sets them up doesnt like proxies.  Its simple as that.  Sadly these events still get almost twice as many people as the 10-proxy mox tourneys  Sad   I've learned to stop bitching about it since its free, but its still lame.

I hear that MHC is trying to get set up for some proxy league for Type One that has it's own rating system like the DCI, that was months ago and I have not heard anything since. There was some talk of ten proxy tournaments as well, this would be a boon to the Type One scene (obviously), and I will mention it again next time I go in.
I am just thankful for Type One in Colorado! You’re fully powered JD come on down and school us in the ways of combo!

Ok peeps, get this, in order to get more people to play, this thing will be NON SANCTIONED with a limit of TEN PROXIES. The entrance fee is free, but there will a fee for proxies (I think like a buck per proxy).  This thing is going to be AMAZING! A potentially free tourney with $500 in prize support? SIGN ME UP!

So this tourney was mad fun. The field was VERY random, from CS to a deck that proxied Savannah Lions. There were 23 peeps, meaning 5 rounds of swiss cut to T8. We decided to split T4 ($100 apiece and 12 in store credit). The Top 4 was:

Danny with RB Sligh
Jeff (r3as0n) with CS
Zach (Green Knight) with his version of Oath
ME! with Meandeck Gifts

Here's the QnD:

Round 1
Game 1: He plays turn 3 killer bees...
Game 2: I get turn 1 tinker, MisD his rancor, and rip lotus to get the time walk (holding d-tutor)
1-0, 2-0

Round 2: Randall with Chalice Oath
Game 1: He goes Strip, chalice 0 on the play (my hand is island, sapphire, drain, drain, BS....great:(). I BS into more land, and for some reason, he decides to NOT strip my land. long story short, it goes to like turn 20, where I have a MASSIVE mana advantage (holding will, wish, 2x FoW, 2 Drain). I Wish for eye of nowhere, bounce his chalice 0 and go crazy with will.
Game 2: He goes orchard, chalice 0. Next turn, island chalice 1. It was such an awesome play for me, as I have a grand total of 6 1cc spells to his 4 BS, 4 furnace, 1 recall, 2 1cc tutors. Anyways, I sit on 3 drains and 2 force, and win the game by attacking 15 times and making him drain my Gifts (<3 Oath has no drain sinks).
2-0, 4-0

Round 3: Fucking Lou with CS
Game 1: I wreck his face in, as Gifts usually does to slaver game 1.
Game 2: My board is amazing sweet, as I board in 6 non-blue cards and out 6 blue cards. His 4 or 5 REBs are useless against me.
3-0, 6-0

Round 4: Travis with Gifts
He's 2-0-1, I'm 3-0 with best tiebreakers. He's CO Crew, so I concede to him to guarantee both of us T8ing.

Round 5: ID

T8: THE Scott Limoges with his take on Dragon
Game 1: I mull to 5 and get pwned
Game 2: I mull to 5 and he has turn 1 duress on my fact. I rip a tinker and cast it turn 2 for colossus, he sets up for the win next turn, but I rip drain.
Game 3: I have turn 1 scroll--->Recall holding academy, drain, FoW. He has turn 1 bazaar. He plays xantid, which I let resolve. I find no crypt or anything. He attacks with dragon in yard and 1 card in hand. I assume I lose, he casts demonic and passes. on my turn, I scroll up fire/ice, kill his dude and pass. He draws and animates, I chain of vapor, and leave him with 2 cards in hand, no dragon in yard, and no perms. I win handily from there.

I lost 1 game the entire tourney, and that was because I had to mull to 5. Gifts is an EXTREMELY broken deck with very few weaknesses. I still feel it's the best deck in the format. If built right, it can play around any hate thrown at it. I won't post my list cause I don't feel like spamming this thread. If anyone is interested though, PM me.
