I've been a huge fan of Arrested Development, and recently have had a strong tasting for Firefly.

To me, firefly is significantly different from the episodes of Buffy that I watched (I never watched angel). Maybe the themes are more adult, maybe the Pilot was just a bloody mess, but Firefly definately is in my que now. I love hearing whore on TV.

Recently I've heard some whispers that some actual intelligent folks are looking to pick up and bring back to life both AD and Firefly. That would be amazing.

Anybody else here of this fortuitous news?

I've heard ABC might pick up Development.

That would make me very happy.

Firefly is quite iffy.  FOX owns it, so it is really up to them whether or not to redo it.  If the liscence has a time date, then whoever wants it will have to wait until it expires to pick it up, but by then there might be no hope of reviving the series.  On the other hand, FOX did bring back Family Guy due to the DVD sales, so I guess we will have to wait and see how Serenity does.

Whedon said that he wasn't really interested in producing the series anymore. He wants to focus on the next two movies.

I've heard that Showtime might pick up Arrested Development.  Firefly is probably dead, though.  Joss Whedon won't work with Fox and Serenity underperformed at the box offices.  Granted, I've read that Universal has considered making a Serenity made-far-TV movie but that is contingent on DVD sales, which have been respectable but may not be enough to turn a profit.

Showtime picking up Arrested Development would be bad ass.  I always thought they were holding back just a little on Fox anyways, even if every episode seemed to have at least one bleep in it.

That's not true.  If you're referring to the Entertainment Weekly magazine, it was taken out of context.  Whedon is looking at expanding both the Buffyverse and the Fireflyverse, he's just a little booked atm.

By the way, the same wit that's in Firefly is in Buffy/Angel.  The problem with such a long-running show like those two is a lot of people (I did this) watch a few episodes in the middle and judge it.  The attraction of Whedon shows is your attachment and reactions to the characters, and you really need to start at square 1.

Seems unlikely, admittedly, but it's something to wonder about... Joss would like to do more, but requires money and time. He also said that although it might be the same universe with the same characters, it wouldn't be Firefly. He'd still want to make it, though Very Happy.
