Last Jersey tournament was won by John Blake, who opted for cash over power, so we can have another go, with a bit more notice this time.

Sunday 12th March (come and get your practice in before the double SCG Richmond events!)
11:30am
Frist Campus Centre, Princeton University.
$15 entry.  Proxies beyond 10 available for $1ea.  Recognisable proxies preferred (CE, photocopied, Gaming etc)

First place - Time Walk
Second and onwards - TBC.

Directions and Parking:
See The Princeton Magic Website for comprehensive info.  Basically, easy bus or train from NYC or Philly.  Park in any university numbered lot and find your way to the right building.  Cafeteria at the bottom is the right place.

Call me (Simon) 609 933 9666 or Ultima (John) 732 672 4074 for emergencies or whatever...

Side events:
Princeton Magic runs a regular limited event around 3pm every Saturday, so there will be other players around too, and I'll schedule the two events to allow people time to play in both.

There will also be a skittles side event too, so get deckbuilding.

Food on site.

All right everyone, make some noise for this tournament!!

Not only will I be there, I'll win! And if you think otherwise, then post something!

Also - there'll be side events.  And it seems like there's considerable interest in the Skittles side event.  Go see the somewhat active discussion thread for more.

If there's enough people and interest, we might run the first ever Skittles power tournament...

A little advance notice goes a long way, it seems.

Turnout was really quite acceptable this time, we had 28 players (enough for the Time Walk and more) in the main event, with many of the regulars and just about all of the locals absent, plus no sign of the guys from north Jersey who promised the day before that they'd be here.  WTF is that about?  To his credit, Sam Zeitlin
struggled in near the end of round 1 to apologise for not being there to play the deck he'd spent all week having me build for him.  Apparently a power cut the night before had killed his alarm clock and hence he hadn't woken up until after noon...

Ultima crawled in as the pairings were being posted, he'd got to be around 4am the night before after a delayed flight back from Vegas, and he insists he didn't even see any Hookers while there.  A guy called Andrew made it all the way from Greenwich, CT on the train.  I was impressed.

All went smoothly until the start of round 2.  What is it about round 2 at type 1 tournaments that messes the system?  Ray's had problems there - twice I think, lots of people recall the Stockinger debacle...  Basically in trying to print through my knackered USB port, we have a "Windows moment" as the Blue Screen of Death appears.  Assuming the pairings won't have been kept and it'll take a while, I send people off to get pizza.

In fact a simple reboot shows the pairings still intact, and it all takes rather less time to put right than one might have thought.  But we're slightly delayed because people are buying pizza...Oh well...

Interesting metagame, only one Stax in Method's absence, lots of AK/Tendrils - since John and Seth were key in designing the deck, perhaps it's understandable.  Quite a lot of fish, and some Birdshit/Threshold variants.  One or two very random things.  I played to keep the numbers even, with my wife's usual Goblin aggro build, she played CS.

Top 8 - Ultima (who squeaked in on turn 5 with a big Tendrils off Will), Seth Levy, AJ, Roger, Kevin Folinus, Jeff Folinus, Joe Davis and Kevin #2.  That's Oath, 3*AK/Tendrils, U/B Confishdant, UR Fish, 2*UWG grofish.

Roger and Joe Davis split in the final and decide to take cash alternative to the Walk and whatever would have been second.

Commiserations to Big Nick, who landed himself into 9th place.

During top 8, we ran a draft with only 6 people, and a Skittles tournament with 8 people.  The latter got curtailed by the Top 2 prize split when we realised we could all just go home instead...

Thanks to everyone who turned up, if there's a Spring Waterbury, I think I'll run the week before or so.
