Hey guys, just got back from the event, It was a 4 way split for first with Luis Scott-Vargas getting credit for the win...

I ended up in 9th at 3-2 playing my usual Cerebral Assasin...I didnt figure on the meta, the Twister event made me way over compensate for Stax and Oath..but such is life and I had fun.

All in all it was a good event and I will definatly go back to future events (even though its a bit far for me)

I was figuring the meta to be a mix of waterbury results + decks that people played at the last power tournament in which they attended, which seemed like it was fairly accurate.

I had really no idea what I wanted to play until the last minute. I had brought 4 decks with me to eudomonia on friday for testing purposes. So friday night was coming to an end and I still didn't have a clue as to what I would be playing.

I didn't fee like playing gifts. I've been out of the loop for too long playing formats that actually have PT relevence and didn't feel like being the monkey with gifts, although i'm sure I would have been fine.

So I decided to play a version of one of the dark confidant tendrils decks from waturbury modified somewhat. I really liked the deck and did well with it obviously. I'd post a tournament report but

1. I don't really care much for that.
2. It would show how lucky I am apparently.
3. I don't remember exactly what happened despite the tournament only happening last weekend (I swear I don't have amnesia).

Some thoughts on the deck.

-The dark ritual was randomly good. It would allow me to double tendrils in 2 games and helped out when I was comboing off with will, etc.

-The gush seemed a bit random but I only drew it once and it was good then. It was in the game where my opp mulled to 4 on the play, forced my turn1 bob, proceeding to draw nothing, so yea. I needed a draw spell (brainstorm, ancestral, thirst, gush) and it was gush which I drew so the actual impact that it would have in other situations seems to be a bit underwhelming to me at first. Sure there's the interaction of hand size + library which is the main argument point on the pro side. However, I am not convinced yet. Fact or fiction appears to be better.

-Hurkyl's recall. I was often thinking if this would be better as an echoing truth seeing as how the only non-artifact bounce spell in the maindeck is chain of vapor. The thought came up because of my take on the oath match-up. I assume that whichever is included would be a metagame call, blah blah blah. I understand the "I'd-like-to-pick-up-my-moxes-and-tendrils-you-GG" spells are critical to the deck's functionality, however, I can't really say if the three are needed plus a chain or if two rebuild plus chain plus truth would suffice.

Well I liked how it ran David...I hadnt had a chance to play with or against the confidant like builds yet (very limited time for magic in general these past few months) but it seemed to do pretty well...

That game one against me you had such insane card advantage going I was lost from the get go...

Webster - looks like you used my waterbury list with a few cards different, so thanks for the feedback and congrats on the top 4.

I have found the same thing with ritual.

Gush is awesome sometimes, and other times it's meh. It's one of many cards I've been changing around.

I have always loved hurkyl's. If anything I would cut the 2nd rebuild before hurkyl's. Under sphere of resistance it's insanely good, and it gives you answers at all casting costs to chalice of the void.
