After opening a random guildpact pack, and seeing this Quicken card, i looked at it, and said "wow, that card is just stupid for mental magic, and if possible, for vintage as well.  So, for the forum readers' enjoyments, here is a new version of TPS, hoping to abuse quicken.  It seems like it would be better in the mirror, as you can go "response to your tendrils resolving, ill quicken my own" and win.  I wont lie, i havent tested it yet, but it IS worth looking at.

also, it would seem that something like echoing truth or chain of vapor over the two rebuilds in the board might be better

I'm like you in that I really believe that some time in the near future there will be a seriously busted deck with quicken in it; the cards just breaks too fundamental a rule of magic to not be busted in my opinion.  Plus, it's a cantrip.

My real question with this deck though is what does quicken add to it?  At first glance I can't see anything that it substantially adds to the deck; the only thing I can see it doing at all is the tendrils in response to a tendrils that you mentioned and a mind's desire in the middle of a counter war to try to find more drains or forces; the problem I see with that is (1) you have enough counterspells in the deck that the number of times you'll be able to win in response to them winning probably isn't significant enough to take away 3 slots in the deck from something and (2) mind's desiring to win a counter war will probably not only be rare (at best), but will probably wasted said broken sorcery.  I would much rather just counter a key spell in the opponent's offense or use another draw mechanic to win counter wars.

All in all though, it is an interesting idea that could potentially be brought somewhere powerful with the right cards.

Quicken is most busted when you do an eot draw 7 giving you eight new cards and all your mana untapped at the beginning of your main phase.
