This months event hosted by CCGames and held at Montgomery County Community College saw a big change in the metagame from last month. There was even more diversity in the decks played, with Oath going from the dominant deck with 8 players in February including 1st & 2nd place to only 1 showing with a 5th place finish. The deck breakdown was as follows:

Gifts - 5
Workshop - 3
U/B Control - 2
Tendrils
U/R Fish
Stax
Oath
U/W
U/W/G Control
U/W/B Control
Goblin Food Chain

The Final 8 broke down as follows:

Gifts vs. Goblin Food Chain (W)
U/R Fish (W) vs. Oath
Gifts vs Gifts (W)
U/W Control (W) vs. Workshop

Goblin Food Chain vs U/R Fish (W)
Gifts vs. U/W Control (W)

U/W Control vs. U/R Fish (W)

Winner AJ Grasso titled his winning deck as "1 Fish 2 Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" and took home a signed Library of Alexandria for his 1st place finish.

Our next event will be on Sunday, March 26th with 1st place taking home a MOX JET!. Look for the event posting on the event page soon. Info can be found on our web site at www.collegevillecards.com

I suppose I can say that I'm the only person to beat the winner.

I wish I would have beaten the guy who straight up CAME TO OWN (metagamed against) my deck.  Smile

A clarification though:

In the Gifts vs. Gifts matchup, it was actually:

Gifts vs. Turboland w/ Dryads (What a pile).

My friend Mike was the guy actually playing Gifts who lost to the Turboland deck.  If the deck that this guy used for the tournament was indeed Gifts, and he decided to play Turboland in the top 8, my friend Mike should be awarded some kind of refund, and that guy should be banned from future tournaments.

However, I doubt that's the case and that you probably just didn't recognize Turboland.  Smile

This guy was also at the tournament this weekend. He's been playing a really bizarre deck. It's like a Turboland/Gifts/Gro/Oath hybrid with cards from all of the above thrown in and Tinker/Colossus for good measure. After playing against him (and winning) in both tournaments, as well as watching some of his other matches AND asking friends, I still have no idea as to what he's actually playing. I may be able to come up with about 60%-75% of his main deck list if I wanted to, but I'd have no idea as to the rest of it or the sideboard, plus I don't really care enough to.
