I figured this is the forum that best fits this question.  I used to play a lot and figured out my collection is actually worth quite a bundle now (glad I kept them).  I don't wish to sell them to anybody just yet, so please don't bother me with prices.  However, I do need to know the difference between unlimited and revised cards.  Is there an easy way to tell the difference between these two sets?  I've heard the print in one set is darker than others, but my cards have been in storage a long time and are slightly faded, so I can't tell for the life of me what the difference is.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are some common differences such as text and color, but you can also just look up specific cards and tell pretty easily.

Here's a quote that basically sums it all up for you nicely:

Quote
Revised cards appear faded and pastel compared to an unlimited card. One of the best ways is to put the card next to a known Revised card. If its darker then its either Unlimited or Summer Magic (highly unlikely its the latter, but you never know).

Revised cards do not have beveled edges. They have single lines. If you have beveled edges, you have Unlimited. If you have a single dark solid line, you have Revised.

Neither Revised nor Unlimited have a copyright date. If you have a copyright date you probably have 4th edition.

The text between Unlimited and Revised changed for many cards. Unlimited text usually is larger than Revised cards for any card that was reprinted from Alpha (not necessarily those that entered Revised from Antiquities or Arabian Nights).

Unlimited has no 'tap' symbol. As has been pointed out, it always says 'Tap'.

The colorless mana costs on an Unlimited card have a moderately dark grey background. The colorless mana costs a Revised card have a pale cream background (actually probably a very light grey but due to the inking process this has a faint reddish hue to it.)

Hope that helps!

Probably the easiest way is to look at the artist name. Unlimited cards have the "Illus. c artist" name floating above the base line of the card. Revised cards have "Illus. c artist name" will be touching the baseline of the card.

Also the Il in Illus. is more to the left of the card on Unlimited cards.
