To make life easier on players, however, and as an admission that the drawbacks on these cards are the most vicious we’ve ever done, the rule regarding putting visual reminders on your library (Rule 37 in the Universal Tournament Rules) will be officially changed on June 1st; in fact, most tournament organizers and judges have adopted the change early. I don’t have the actual wording that will appear in the UTR yet, but it will allow players to place small “non-game items”—which means not cards, though beads, dice, or miniatures are acceptable—on their libraries to remind them of upkeep effects like echo and Pacts. Hopefully those of you with forgetful tendencies will adopt this new rule.

On the Pact cycle from Future Site, you can now put dice or whatnot on top of your deck so that you don't forget your upkeep costs.

I had heard that this was "not REL>1 legal" and in June it will be legal.

I actually didn't know where to post this so I put it here.  Mods can move this wherever they like.

We were allowed to do this in the prerelease, and I did see it used. Not sure that I like the idea of anything to help my opponent to remember Pact of Negation Razz but it's a good move by Wizards.

I played slaughter pact at the prerelease and though they did tell us we could do this, I did not end up doing so. When I used to play dragon it took me forever not to miss squee triggers, so now I am overpracticed. I think this is a great thing, it seems silly not to allow it in the first place.

I'm glad this is finally legal. I've known lots of people over the years that used beads to remember upkeep effects, not even realizing that it was against the rules.

It's a small change that does nothing but remove irritating memory issues from the game. Kudos to Wizards.
