A few questions for those in the know:

I mistakenly had iTunes set to AAC file format when importing CD's, but I want to have everything in mp3.  Does anyone know of any cheap (or free) file converters for moving stuff between mp3, aac, wav, etc?

Also, I have a large library of music files I'm trying to sort, and I find iTunes, etc woefully inadequate for the task of cataloging them, and then having something that can be querried into playlists later.  The best option I've seen so far has been later incarnations of MusicMatch.  Does anyone have anything better?

Import them all into iTunes, right click and select "Convert selection to mp3".

I like iTunes.  Try Edit->Show Browswer

Yes, I now know how to import as an mp3 file.  What I'm saying is that I have a few hundred albums worth of AAC's (both from me and from others) that I'd like to change into mp3's.  How do I do that?

Try Media Monkey for the sorting and organizing, it's been really good to me and i have an assload of music.  It also has a file converter, and it's free.

Ah, yes, you have now learned how to rip CDs to mp3. When will you learn to read?
