So we got 10 people tonight for draft and I was sitting next to my friend Albert. I automatically knew that he'd be taking any and all blue he could get his hands on, while I would generally ignore it barring a huge flood. There wasn't too much intresting about the draft other than the fact that we literally saw NO BLUE cards worth a damn until DIS. And by that I mean they were all Simic. No super intresting pick choices come up for me, but if I think of any I'll post em up. This was my draft: Char Self Sword Brute x2 Galvanic Arc Fiery Conclusion Vishano Slasher Seismic Spike Instill Furor Sandstorm Eidolon Psychotic Fury Civic Wayfinder Elvish Skysweeper Predatory Focus x2 Douse in Gloom Douse in Gloom Vesper Ghoul Leyline of the Void Sewerdreg Crypt Champion Bendiction of Moons Votary of the Conclave Compulsive Research Train of Thought Ocular Halo Terraformer Silkwing Scout Helium Squirter Runeboggle x2 Burning-Tree Bloodscale Scab-Clan Mauler x2 Rakdos Ickspitter Rise / Fall Leap of Flame Overrule Golgari Rotwurm Leafdrake Root Omnibian Simic Signet Izzet Boilerworks x2 Rakdos Carnarium Simic Growth Center How would you build it? I'm particularly intrested in the mana ratios / how many colors you play. I'll post my buld tomm/sun. I went 2-1 with my version of U/R/G/b dropping two games to mana and two to GLARE/BOMB.dec. Gee you only have Glare, Skarggan Firebird, Stratozepplid, 2 A. Zepplid and some good Izzet stuff? My heart weeps for you. DAMN YOU JOHN. I'm sure he'll post about his bombstastic deck and 'the best mull to 5 in RGD ever'.

This is what I would have played:
Char Sell-sword Brute Sell-sword Brute Galvanic Arc Fiery Conclusion
Civic Wayfinder Elvish Skysweeper
Douse in Gloom Douse in Gloom Crypt Champion Vesper Ghoul*
Compulsive Research Train of Thought Terraformer* Silkwing Scout Helium Squirter
Rakdos Ickspitter Rise // Fall Leap of Flame Leafdrake Roost Golgari Rotwurm Omnibian (This is pretty iffy, but you seem to need another semi-big guy)
Simic Signet Izzet Boilerworks Izzet Boilerworks Rakdos Carnarium Simic Growth Chamber
Of the thirteen basics, I'd only run one or two Forests and roughly equal numbers of swamps and mountains, giving less priority to Islands since every fixer makes blue.
* Possibly the Scab-clan Maulers here if you're feeling good about your mana base

Soooo...yeah. This is what I played:
Land: Selesnya Sanctuary Gruul Turf Simic Growth Chamber 6 Island 3 Mountain 2 Forest 1 Plains
Artifacts: Simic Signet Izzet Signet
This deserves its own category: Glare of Subdual
Blue: Infiltrator's Magemark Ocular Halo Repeal Vedalken Dismisser x2 Tidewater Minion Stratozeppelid Torch Drake Steamcore Weird Plaxmanta Silkwing Scout
Gold/Hybrid: Leap of Flame Coiling Oracle Minister of Impediments Assault Zeppelid x2 Vigean Hydropon
Red: Cleansing Beam Viashino Fangtail Ogre Savant
Green: Aquastrand Spider
Other cards: Verdant Eidolon Utvara Scalper Valor Made Real Writ of Passage Gigadrowse Shadow Lance Cry of Contrition Poisonbelly Ogre Wee Dragonauts Incite Hysteria Ordruun Commando Sabertooth Alley Cat Convolute Perplex Dizzy Spell x2 Rain of Embers
I don't know whether it would be correct to play Verdant Eidolon over Leap of Flame, but the rest of the deck seems pretty self-explanatory to me.
I was trying hard to cut Izzet in GPT, but I let a few slip through - a Savant and a Weird for a Stratozeppelid and a bounceland, I think. I got rewarded, though - I was just being passed awesomeness over awesomeness in Dissension, though, so that pretty much made up for that.
Went 3-0 (6-3); lost every game to mana issues. Mull to 5 three times just isn't good news, especially when it's on the play.
Best Mull to 5 ever? Mountain, Plains, Simic Growth Chamber, Glare of Subdual, Assault Zeppelid. Yeah, not too shabby.

1 Civic Wayfinder 1 Silkwing Scout 1 Helium Squirter 1 Compulsive Research 1 Omnibian 1 Leafdrake Roost 2 Douse in Gloom 1 Golgari Rotwurm 1 Rakdos Ickspitter 1 Char 1 Galvanic Arc 1 Crypt Champion 1 Simic Signet 1 Terraformer 1 Rise // Fall 2 Sell-Sword Brute 2 Scab-Clan Mauler 1 Psychotic Fury 1 Vesper Ghoul 1 Sewerdreg 1 Predatory Focus 1 Simic Growth Chamber 1 Rakdos Carnarium 1 Izzet Boilerworks 4 Forest 3 Island 4 Swamp 3 Mountain
41 Cards Total
Just a little drafting-tip; try drafting creatures that fit your curve. The deck isn't very focussed on anything but it also lacks a very good curve (note: I consider Sell-Sword Brute a filler creature for when you have no curve) and you don't have a bomb to get you out of sticky situations.
The curve in the above deck would be ; 1 - 0 2 - 4 3 - 4 4 - 2 5 - 3
Some of the creatures are fantastic, while others are less than stellar (the entire 2 mana-slot) and the creatures don't connect well color-wise. But I'm hoping I included enough mana-fix in the deck to take care of that.
I'm not sure about the Elvish Sky-Sweeper in this deck. Maybe it should be in there because it would help the Scab-Clan Maulers but more often that not it is just the 23-24th card.

First I started lopping off stuff I hated, and Sewerdreg who is too colored for 4cDraft. That gave me 22 cards. I wanted one more spell and there were only 15 creatures so I tossed in the Burning-Tree Bloodscale (Ocular Halo was its nearest competition).
Char Sell-Sword Brute Sell-Sword Brute Galvanic Arc Fiery Conclusion
Civic Wayfinder Elvish Skysweeper
Douse in Gloom Douse in Gloom Vesper Ghoul
Compulsive Research Train of Thought Terraformer Silkwing Scout Helium Squirter
Crypt Champion Rakdos Ickspitter Burning-Tree Bloodscale Scab-Clan Mauler Scab-Clan Mauler Golgari Rotwurm Leafdrake Root Omnibian
Simic Signet Izzet Boilerworks Izzet Boilerworks Rakdos Carnarium Simic Growth Chamber
The mana ratios were: 10R, 7U, 8G, 6B
Since we had four blue sources, two green, three red, and one black source already, that leaves us needing: 7R, 3U, 6G, 5B
and we have 12 basics to fit that in. So I started lopping off numbers: taking two off each gives us 5R, 1U, 4G, 3B, which is 13 basics, one more than we want. I decided to cut a mountain, finishing the list with this basic land selection:"
4 Mountain 4 Forest 3 Swamp 1 Island
which makes the count as five blue sources for seven blue cards, six green sources for eight green cards, four black sources for six black cards, and seven red sources for ten red cards. Perfect.

This was what my build ended up being.
Char Self Sword Brute x2 Galvanic Arc Fiery Conclusion
Civic Wayfinder Elvish Skysweeper Predatory Focus
Douse in Gloom Douse in Gloom
Compulsive Research Train of Thought Ocular Halo Terraformer Silkwing Scout Helium Squirter
Burning-Tree Bloodscale Rakdos Ickspitter Rise / Fall Golgari Rotwurm Leafdrake Root Omnibian
Simic Signet Izzet Boilerworks x2 Rakdos Carnarium Simic Growth Center
4 Mountain 4 Forest 3 Island 2 Swamp
I guess I like slower games than everyone else. A lot of times I simply wanted to deal some early damage until I could find Leafdrake Roost or Helium Squirter / Omnibian for the good good beats. The Maulers only came in as a emergency board plan vs. John, because I knew any normal configuration of the deck would lose hardcore.
Also @ guy who suggested the curve thing. I get that for the most part, but I'm stil not taking shitty creatures until picks 8-15. I much rather have the spotty curve + huge men plan going for me, than trying to get my bloodthirst guys rolling early.

The only deck that I would consider running the curve with is BWx or a really good RGx deck. BWx has a bunch of good fliers, and RGx can get some serious power on the table quickly. Otherwise, big dudes + removal is the better plan.
Running 1 and 2 drop crap just to "curve out" makes no sense, because you'll just lose to your opponent dropping a big guy or two on the table and just eating your team.

I much rather have the spotty curve + huge men plan going for me, than trying to get my bloodthirst guys rolling early. It isn't essential to have the 'perfect curve'. But a big guy can only block one little guy... you need little guys to hold out until some bomb arrives on the table (or at least something that can seal the game for you). If you don't have that (Rotwurm would be the nearest thing here) the curve become much, much more important if you want to pressure your opponent into doing something and I would have paid extra attention to it in the last booster. Between Rakdos and Simic there are some very decent creatures in ever slot that are likely to show up.
