Eye of Eternity

Legendary Land

T: Add 1 to your mana pool.
2T, Sacrifice Eye of Eternity: Shuffle target face-up card that's removed from the game into its owner's library.

Who said nothing lasts forever?


The name is an obvious reference to WoW, and I pretty much went from reading those forums to these so I didn't put a tremendous amount of though into the name.  I did think it might be cool to create a cycle of lands or cards based on the locations in that game, and I might do that just for fun anyway.

Ring of Ma'ruf has never been good enough to see play, and I always wanted to be able to return something that was RFG'd by a Yawgmoth's Will, Tormod's Crypt, or STP.  I didn't have it provide blue mana because I didn't want to make it good enough as an auto-include to most blue decks. 

Other considerations included:

- Returning a RFG'd card to owner's graveyard
- Making the ability played as a sorcery
- Target card that has been RFG'd gets shuffled back into its owner's library.  You may not play spells for the remainder of the turn.

Samite,

I like the flavor of this quite a bit. The only comment I have is that the wording is a bit off. A card would not be specified as "Target card that has been removed from the game." Instead, the ability would read: "Shuffle target face-up card that's removed from the game into its owner's library."

I think I would honestly prefer changing the ability to {2} {W} and removing the sacrifice, making it slow but repeatable, and also preserving this part of white's already-slim color pie allotment.

What aboiut having it as  {W} {W}{Tap} for the ability?  That makes it much less splashable.

While I agree that this is probably a white ability, I didn't want white in the casting cost so I could play it in my control deck without having to run white sources.  The reusable ability is an interesting idea, but I always seem to prefer an exchange of resources.  In this case, the resource of a land being exchanged for a powerful card being put back into your deck and the opportunity to draw/search it out.

What about having multiple abilities?

 {4} {Tap}, Sacrifice Eye of Eternity: Shuffle target face-up card that's removed from the game into its owner's library.
 {2} {W} {Tap}, Shuffle target face-up card that's removed from the game into its owner's library. Gain 1 Life.

This way you get multiple ways to use this card.
