I'd like to congratulate Franz Ferdinand as the winner of 3CB Tournament #83! Not a stellar turnout, but a newer deck takes this tournament - an excellent choice against the many aggro decks out this time around!

Unbanning Lotus still looks safe - first was a Leyline deck and second a Workshop deck, suggesting no issues with Lotus at all. I've changed the ban list to add cards banned in Vintage, those being Ante and Dexterity cards. I was generous this time around and gave Chaos Orb the functionality of Desert Twister/Vindicate, but not another time.

For next week: Same Again!

What is 3cb?

3-Card Blind (3CB) is a very unique game. The rules are as follows

Your deck is composed of 3 cards, all of which start in your hand.
You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
Random effects always go in your opponent's favour.
You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
For each win, you score 3.
For each draw, you score 1.
For each loss, you get nothing.
Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!

To make an entry, PM your deck to Godder in the following format:

Subject: 3cb Tournament #84 Entry or 3cb Tournament#84 Revision
Deck Name
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3

Optional Deck discussion, random sucking up, etc.

Entries close August 20. First Prize is the Custom Title "TMD 3CB Champion" which will be retained until results are posted for the following tournament. Players may enter one or two decks, although please note that I reserve the right to restrict entries to one deck if numbers are sufficiently high. If entering two decks, please indicate which is your first, just in case numbers are sufficiently high.

Interesting field. I think the blizard specter deck would do better in a field with different decks as it looks like it should be strong.

oh and thanks to godder for doing these.

I think 5 beats 10, and draws with 11. 10 has no permanent mana source, hence dies to Tabernacle, and Arc Lightning isn't enough to kill a Helldozer. 11 can ramp Chalice to 6 faster than 5 can its Bottomless Vault, and then just let go of the Coretapper. (It sucks mightily that manaburn kills you faster than Coretapper does your opponent. Meh.)

Me versus 1 & 11 should be 4-1s, not 3-3s.

vs. 1:

If I'm on the play, I drop Isamaru and proceed to win.
If I'm on the draw, he plays Funeral Charm. I discard Isamaru, and play Karakas. If he plays Sarcomancy, I bounce the zombie and he dies from the Sarc, so he stays still. If I choose not to put Leyline down, he plays Sarcomancy first and it's a stalemate.

vs. 11:
If I'm on the draw, he plays Chalice for 1. Then, I play Karakas, and if he plays Coretapper, I bounce it.

By the way, if anyone wants to also play 3CB elsewhere, I run it on the forums at Magic-League (you don't need to play there to sign up for the forums). We're a little faster and there are more people, though the general skill level is a little lower.

Oops! Thanks guys - it's always easy to miss interactions in these things, especially for inexperienced tournament directors.

I should really be posting results now, but with only 8 decks(!) submitted so far, I'll put it off for another day or two. Please send some more decks!

Edit: Entries closed with 15 decks now (much better...). The tallies will be posted later tonight.
