Someone on ebay said that they were a foil judges promo.  That's not true as far as I knew - I thought they were promos for gnecon and vintage champs around the world last year?  Have they since been more widely released?  What's the story?

Yeah, they were a judge promo. They just gave them out as prizes at Gencon. I'm not entirely sure why.

They were prizes to the top 8 of the New Zealand national Vintage championships - my team won two of them.

I believe that everyone in last year's Amateur Championship top eight at Origins received one as well.

The Belgian Vintage Championships also handed them out to the T8.

Level 3 judges are getting them by the boatload...

You can buy them for about $50 right now. That's still a lot of money for a card that would otherwise cost $2 but in the beginning they cost, what? $300?

I only got $60 for mine while it was on eBay at the same time as yours. In fact, I think you put a bid on mine to take away to BIN at $130 to create more business for yours.  I seem to recall being irked by this at the time, but it's pretty hilarious now.

Hey, if I could get a Foil gemstone for like 50 (or whatever I bid on it) at the same time that I'm selling 1 for 100, sweet Smile
