I was brainstorming ideas that would/could fundamentally change type 1, and I got to thinking: what do all good decks have and all bad decks lack?  Then I realized the answer: restricted cards.  I eventually came up with the following:

Diversity's Burden 2R
Sorcery
Each player reveals his or her library, hand, and each card they own outside of the game.  ~This~ deals damage equal to the number of cards each player owns that do not share a name with other cards he or she owns.

The largest error in the design of the card, in my opinion, could be limited, esspecially draft, where drafting this and multiple copies of every other card could be a game winning strategy.  I feel, however, that it would be rare enough that it would not destroy the format.  In addition, in sealed decks this card would likely be suicidal.  In that respect, I feel that it would not be overly powerful.

In most formats this card is not astonishing.  Against control decks it could deal maybe 3-5 damage, making it acceptable.

In vintage, however, this card ends the game... against good decks, that is.  It does nothing against fish and goblins and sui-black, but against combo, control, and stax it deals at least 15 damage, and most likely around 20+.

I assigned the card to be red for several reasons:  Red is the opposite of blue, the color that supports singletons the most.  Also, red is the color of mass hystaria, which is contradictory to singularity.  Furthurmore, the only other option was black, but dark ritual might push it over the edge.  Green and white would also work, but they don't usually do direct damge/life loss.

The name could use work, and the card needs flavortext if there is room.

And in casual its just overpowered beyond words, considering that the clause "Cards you own" actually refers to your entire collection outside of tourney play.

#1, this is massively boring to actually play. Going through 75 cards is laborious and time-consuming.

#2, other than the last-minute idea of damage, this doesn't feel red at all.

#3, if you want to hose restricted cards, there are much more elegant ways of doing it that don't piss off everyone who doesn't play vintage, such as:

"Whenever a player plays a spell, if a card with the same name as that spell isn't in that player's graveyard, ~this~ deals 4 damage to that player."

#4, the other huge problem is that for any card to do anything to Vintage it has to be playable on the first 2-3 turns, which makes it way too fast for real formats, especially since most of the restricted cards are played so soon - moxes and such come down on the first turn.

Making cards to hose formats is huge frowns.

Plus, diversity is a green idea.
