Hey all, this is my first attempt at building a Tog deck, so I'm not sure whether this is any good or not, I've been testing it, and it's pretty good, usually leading to 30-40 damage for the kill. I've just gone down the "draw a ton of cards, pump, then Berserk" route. Here's the deck so far:

Mana Base
4 Underground Sea
4 Tropical Island
4 Polluted Delta
1 Bayou
2 Flooded Strand
3 Island
1 Bloodstained Mire
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Black Lotus
1 Sol Ring

Disruption
4 Duress
4 Force of Will

Card Draw/Tutors
1 Memory Jar
1 Sylvan Library
1 Necropotence
4 Night's Whisper
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
4 Brainstorm
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Ancestral Recall

Creature Kill
2 Innocent Blood

Kill Condition
4 Psychatog
4 Berserk

Others
1 Fastbond
1 Regrowth
1 Time Walk

Right, that's the deck. I think a lot of them are self explanatory. However, I guess I should explain the less obvious ones.

Memory Jar - Allows extra Tog damage.
Sylvan Library - Better quality of draws.
Night's Whisper - Cheap and efficient drawer.
Mystical Tutor - Fetches Berserk usually, but can get Time Walk, Regrowth or Ancestral Recall if need be.
Innocent Blood - The local meta is pretty aggro based, I might replace this with Propaganda though.
4 Berserks - I know 4 may seem a little over the top, but any less and I rarely draw it in time.
Regrowth - Gets Berserk, Time Walk or Ancestral Recall.

The deck at the moment is very slow, usually winning on turn 5 or 6. Sad I'm not an experienced Tog player at all, so I'm not sure how I can make this any better. Help and suggestions appreciated!

this is what I would change

-3 berserks
+2 cunning wish
+1 Fact or fiction!!!!!!

fact or fiction is always a +6/+6 for a tog. ( you get 3 cards, 2 in graveyard, discard 3, remove all 5 + fof from the game is +6+6.

cunning wish to wish back for cards removed by tog, or from the wishboard. berserk is a wish card, because it will be a dead card most of the time.

I am sure there are a lot of other cards that need to go in and out though, but this is what I would do for sure. Maybe even only 2 togs, but I am not sure about that. Also I would use more disruption,
The major problem is, that you have only 15 blue cards, which isnt good for fow pitching. ( bs, fow, mystical, time, ancestral, tog)

a good draw engine for tog is intuition + accumulated knowledge, but I dont know how the speed is in T1. I would replace the 4 nights whispers for something blue, so its better with fow. Also I would add tinker / DC for alternate win. if the togs are removed by something, then you are ****ed. DC + Berserk is very nice.  Wink

hope this gives ideas.

you're not playing yawgmoth's will....

I'd go:
+2 intution
+4 mana drain
+4 AK
+1 yawg will
+3 cunning wish
+1 fof

-bargain, necro, jar, sylvan,
-4 nights whisper
-1 bayou
-1 tropical island
-1 fastbond
-4 beserk

Tog is gonna end up a control-combo deck with a strong emphasis on control, without gush fastbond isn't fantastic and you're not gonna goldfish people out on turn 2 very often so you can go find the berserk later with wish, I'd put gush and berserk and vamp in my board as wish targets along with the usual utility cards.

Also, why run Necro?  it does RFG everything you pitch to the tog. . .

lose the Necro, Bargain, Jar, Tog #4 and put in AKx4. then it's just a matter of subbing 2 Intutitons for 2 Night's Whispers (Leaving 2 Night's Whispers maindeck).

As I said, I'm not adept with Tog decks, I just couldn't find something to fill the slot, I'll admit that was a crud choice though. Embarassed

That dosnt really LOOK like a 'Tog deck to me?
'Tog is a control deck with drains, forces and duress to keep control, a huge draw engine, and sometimes cunning wish's to fetch answers and BERSERK(/Fling).....4 berserks maindeck seems like too much, but i guess drawing 2 of them makes for one mean 'Tog.

What about Gush?????

instant +6/+6 to tog.

you are running lots of islands and does still draws you 2 cards instantly.

and dpesen't necro not work, since doesn't it replace the discard effect so you are not actually discarding anymore so tog doesn't get any bigger?

Right, here's the deck so far:

Mana Base
4 Underground Sea
4 Tropical Island
4 Polluted Delta
2 Flooded Strand
3 Island
1 Bloodstained Mire
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Black Lotus
1 Sol Ring

Disruption
4 Duress
4 Force of Will
4 Mana Drain

Card Draw/Tutors
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Gush
2 Intuition
2 Night's Whisper
1 Mystical Tutor
4 Accumulated Knowledge
4 Brainstorm
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Ancestral Recall

Creature Kill
2 Innocent Blood

Kill Condition
3 Psychatog
1 Berserk

Others
1 Regrowth
1 Time Walk

I might cut Mystical Tutor and the Night's Whispers for 3 Cunning Wish, then I can set up a decent sideboard. What do you guys think of my changes?

I would really really play Cunning wish instead of the Nights wispers. Cunning wish allows you to play multiple AR, fof, DT etc. you remove it with tog, and wish for it. Or if you removed your 4th AK because you needed to counter a win condition, you can fetch it with the wish. Plus cunning wish works better with mana drain.

sideboard :

1 berserk
2 stifle

I am not good at making sideboards, especially since they are dependant on your meta, but if you use Cunnings, then you can have a nice wishboard.

This article, from several years ago, shows the most successful Tog builds that I've seen:

http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/article/6811.html

Deep Analysis, in particular, is stupid good in Tog.

Also if you are willing to dig a little, Steve's "ultimate" tog article or whatever is now availible for the non premi users at SCG. Which reminds me, Steve's article on the major mana drain lists floating around (pre-gifts explosion) had a decent bit on tog too. Both would probably be helpful for someone who was not familar with the deck.

You're not running Yawgmoth's will, which is a complete shock to me. You should get rid of the Innocent Bloods, maindeck berserk, and night's whispers for cunning wishes. Put some good stuff in the board and you'll be good.

I would put the jar back, add tinker and add darksteel colossus for alternate win condition.  It's just too good not to run.  Definately run the cunning wishes and try to fit a dblast in the maindeck.  Lose the innocent bloods.  Run the 4 togs in addition to the dsc.  It gives you redundancy against 4x StP, which some decks these days have access to.  I would run imperial seal maindeck and put the mystical in the side so you can wish for it, effectively giving you access to 5 tutors if you play the 2 wishes.  As for the fact, gush, nights whispers and duresses.  You need to decide whether you want a disruptive tog deck which will run those duresses, or if you want a card draw heavy build which will need to lose the duress and keep the fact, gush, whispers.  You also need yawgwill.  It allows for another way to pump tog with intution/ak then replay all those aks and then swing with a big tog.  Maindeck berserk is not needed.  Put a copy in the board so you can wish for it.

Try running W in the deck and using 1x tundra in the landbase.  This allows for you to access things like gilded light and StP from your sideboard.  I've been testing U/B/g/w tog lately with good results.  I hope this helps and good luck buddy.

P.S.
If you did all the changes suggested, your goldfish win(if correctly played) should be 3.5-4 turns with some turn 2 and 3 wins and also some turn 5 wins in there.  However, that is only a basis through my goldfish testing.  REal playtesting is another story.  PM me if you have more questions.

Hello fellow gamers

I have been playing tog for about two years religiously and last weekend in Cleveland(Menendian ripped tinker FTW) and Ontario(PacmanXSA slaughtered me with uba stax) I came to the realization that the deck just cannot hold up to the power of gifts and long variants. Anyway this is the list that I have been tinkering around with forever.

1 Black Lotus
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring/mana crypt

Creatures
2 Gorilla Shaman
2 Psychatog

Instants
4 Accumulated Knowledge
1 Ancestral Recall
4 Brainstorm
3 Cunning Wish
4 Force Of Will
3 Intuition
4 Mana Drain
1 Mystical Tutor

Sorceries
3 Deep Analysis
1 Demonic Tutor
2 Duress
1 Mind Twist/duress if misdirections are flying around
1 Time Walk
1 Yawgmoth's Will

Basic Lands
3 Island

Lands
1 Flooded Strand
4 Polluted Delta
1 Tropical Island
3 Underground Sea
3 Volcanic Island

Sideboard:
3 Phyrexian Furnace/Tormods crypt
1 Artifact Mutation
1 Berserk
1 Echoing Truth
1 Fact Or Fiction
1 Ghastly Demise/Darkblast
1 Misdirection
2 Rack And Ruin
4 Red Elemental Blast/Pyroblast too

The deck is pretty optimized to battle through most decks. Two togs seem to be the right amount because if you run three and get capped your going to loose all of them anyway. Four is just to many.
Along with everyone else I must say that Cunning Wish is the nuggets in the deck since you will be unable to counter every threat.
I also tested Regrowth and Gush. Regrowth was situational and with Gush I found myself using drain mana to cast it Because I didn't want to loose two lands, sure is cool when your casting Berserk on your Tog, but its not necessary.
Your Intuition count should go up to three because it not only serves as your draw engine, it serves as a tutor also. Plus it can set you up for the win if your holding Yawg's win in hand. Intuition for Walk, Lotus, and Wish or Walk, Tog, Lotus .....etc......the list is endless.
Your mana base seemes a little weird too. I'd cut the Bloodstained Mire or add a basic Swamp and you really don't need 4 Tropical islands. When playing Tog properly you only need to use the green mana source once for Berserk.
I played with Tinker and Ol' Darky but with that win condition why not just play gifts.
One more thing I noticed is that your list does not run red. Red is the nut answers to most things in the deck. Red Elemental Blast is a house against control and B/W fish Plus you get Rack and Ruin which cripples most stax decks. I Incorporated Gorilla Shaman into the deck which is awesome when Chalice of the Void is around.

No matter how out classed Tog is there will always be a spot for it in my heart.

P.S. When I ran the TMD's spell check it hit on Yawgmoths Will and it was Bigmouths Will.
