I'm using phpbb. It's simple and offers everything we need.

If you want to get hosting, a lot of providers give one-click installation of various useful programs like phpBB.

I randomly found proboards and its done all thats needed to be done...im sure there is better/more advanced, but its not needed for the NorCal boards uses.

Yeah, phpbb sounds right. As for hosting, TMD is obviously on SCG's servers, and meandeck pays something like $50 a year to have our boards hosted--after two complete crashes with zero data recovered, we got tired of "free" hosting.

Prior to TMD switching to this software, we used the same software as SCG uses now.
