I need to know something for a deck I am currently building.

Orcish lumberjack, rogue elephant, and Daze: can you use dual lands for there effects?

Yes. Those cards only care about the lands type, not its name. Also, they don't ask for "basic forest".

How about choosing a non-legend creature? Otherwise he is a UG instant Wrath of Frog.
